5500 Ford tlb

Hey there so i have removed the engine from my backhoe yesterday and a small puncture wound to get out but was wondering weather the torque converter was support to come out with the engine or if it was suppose to stay in the bell housing ?? If it was suppose to come out does anyone have any tips for reinstalling it so everything lines up
Also what is the fibre disc that is talked about and is there any other things I should do with this thing out

It's been about 30 years since I have worked on a 5500 but if I remember right they stay on the trans. Dad had one and the torque
converter seal was always going bad. I had one blow out as soon as it cranked up. Parts man at the dealership said I must be damaging
them during installation. I asked him to show me a new one off the shelf. He handed it to me and I mashed the rubber part with my fingers
and it separated the metal. We went to a place called Bearing Distributors. They measured the old seal and gave us a seal that would
stand high temperatures and never had a problem again.

So thr torque must get unbolted from the fly wheel but how I don't see any access covers or I may be looking right past it

You take the the bolts out through the starter hole. With the starter off turn the flywheel till you get to a bolt. Take it out and turn
to the next one. There should be four. If I remember right you had to pry them apart once the bolts are all out. 5550s and 755s were
similar.

yup sure enough there are 8 3/8 bolts in there bizarre I have manuals for a 5500,6500/7500 and none of them remotely say anything about removing torque converter bolts
