Going to Waverly, Ia Next Week

Heading to the Draft Horse Sale in Waverly, Ia next week. Should get there Tuesday and leave Friday if all is well. Looking for either a single or team to add to the crew. There are at least 3 grey Percherons that would match mine pretty good if you can believe the catalogue, so I am planning on trying to get one of those.

Might look at a Belgian, or a team of Belgians as well. The Belgian in the picture belongs to a friend and is not mine. Should be a good time, at any rate. Let me know if anyone is going or is close by - Bob

There is a large amish area about 45 minutes SE of there near Hazleton, I did not grow up to far from there.
 
My dad used to subscribe to the Draft Horse Journal and I read it as a kid. We used to have Belgians. I was thinking Waverly was where Arnold Hexom, horse auctioneer, was from?
 
Yes, Arnold Hexom lived in Waverly. My brother used to auction that sale with Arnold. Told me stories of a lot of cash trading hands in the middle-of-the-night sales.

My wife was from Waverly....didn't know sic 'em about old tractors...still doesn't.

I was born in Waverly and raised just north of Waterloo. We used to go to the stock car races in Independence on Saturday night.
 
Well, I know I need to watch my P's and Q's when dealing with the Amish, although they are not different from the English when it comes to Horse Trading. I know some of the Amish, and will try to get with them to find out who is not exactly trustworthy. It's a very large sale with lots of dollars changing hands every minute. I think last year the high selling team of Percherons went for $16,000.00 each. And that was for a pair of geldings.

Anywho, just wondering if any of the YT'ers would be there. Knew it was kind of a long shot. Thanks for the replies - Bob
