Skid steer to keep me in shape, it has been acting up for the last week . 2 cylinder Wisconsin engine, can't keep it running. Changed the cap, points and rotor. Pulled off the carb checked out ok . swapped the fuel filters . It will start and run fine , but under load it starts to starve for fuel I now think. Little sucker has a fuel pump , and they are no longer available. So on Monday parts store will have a electric pump I can put on it and we shall see if this soles the problem . In the mean time , I am cleaning out 32 stalls with a fork and a wheel barrow. I don't need to go for a work out at the gym , with this extra job along with all the rest of my chores , I have started to shed a few pounds ,lol. Bruce

Overheating can cause vapor lock. Fuel boils and it will act exactly like you describe. Just a restricted exhaust can do that. Don't ask how I know...

I have had a low pressure (2-3 Psi) electric pump on a 14 HP Kohler for several years now. It has worked out well, seems to provide for faster more reliable starting. I have a switch on mine so I can run the fuel bowl dry for storage over the winter. Sitting over the winter is probably not a concern for you however, running it dry does get the float valve full open to flush any debris that may have accumulated.

Might as well get yourself a Mr Gasket inline fuel regulator too.Just put one on my cousin's Bobcat with the 2 cylinder Kohler. He had installed an electric fuel pump,it was flooding the carb put in the fuel
regulator and it cured the problem think its set on 1 1/2 lbs.

Bruce, They sure don't stop dropping! I had the barn cleaned up last night and was a mess this morning. Had to break the paddles loose on the barn cleaner this morning but my Oliver started up. My buddies 2007 New Holland TS6030 is torn apart at the dealers and Friday they told him about $10,000 in parts and labor. He bought it last summer so no warranty. Milk check this week was less than $15.00 a hundred weight. When I quit in 1994 it was $13.10. Greg

I picked up an aftermarket electric fuel pump for a Cub Cadet 1864 off ebay for a Kohler 18 hp twin. Works good and pressure is not too much for it.
