Larry. How about oldest combine in use?

Rich, brother got our combine in the field Saturday. He made several rounds before he looked in the hopper and the beans were black.

A John Deere 4400 that I used to combine wheat and soybeans in small fields. Used for years without any problems and it did a really good job of cleaning with the fans and straw racks set right.

There were a lot of black beans in SC last fall. Elevator operator told a friend of mine to bring them on and they were putting them on trucks to go to the coast and be shipped to China. I wonder what we will be getting back from China that is made from those beans.

In my neck of the woods I am probably the oldest running combine with my 1983 John Deere 6620. There are older around but they have not been out that I know of for at least a couple of years as the owners are semi-retired.

neighbors just got their last 900 acres of beans out last week. Wondered what they looked like. hundreds of deer been chowing down on them all winter.

Combines from the 80s are about the oldest ones you will see around here doing real work. Was only 15-20 years ago you could still see the occasional Massey 510 or JD 105. Used to be several 7700s around here but those guys upgraded to 9600s when the good times were here a few years ago.
