07 GMC brake lights

My son has an 07 GMC half ton truck, he is having a problem with the brake lights staying on after the pedal is released. He has replaced the brake light switch under the dash probably 8 or ten times in the last 2 years. He has tried ones from NAPA, Car Quest, GM dealer, and O'reilley's,they all seem to last a couple months and then fail. The pedal free play and travel appear to be fine, and the pivot points are fine. Has anyone else had a problem like this or any ideas on what is causing this.

When he takes the old switches off how do they test? Do they stick closed? If the old switches work OK off the truck then you are not gaining anything by changing them. I know you have done this, but to be sure, make certain there is nothing binding to hold the switch closed when the pedal moves away.

Have tested failed ones with ohm meter, none conduct. Even tore a few apart, nothing apparent, GM now just replaces the switch when we bring the old one in. Just a pain to change it all the time.

Had an 89 Chevy truck that did that, common problem on that era of trucks. Replaced the switch, it lasted a while and started doing it again. I just put a light spring on to hold the pedal up, never had another problem.
