Tell me how old this is...

I walked the fence on the 80 at uncle Raymond's today. The cows will be moved up there in a couple of weeks. About half of it you can't even get the four wheeler in so you have to walk it. Spending the day walking that fence with a chain saw, a fencing bucket, and some extra T posts makes for a long one. It just isn't worth it for the few acres of good pasture, but you do it cause it's family.

Anyway, I took some pictures (this is with my iPhone so they might be flipped for you) so you could see Kansas isn't all tall grass prairie.

Better yet - someone tell me how old the barbed wire in the last picture is. I've never removed any wire, just added more. I've never seen barbs like that, though.

Look into Scutt arrow plate barb wire patented June 18, 1878 by Hiram B. Scutt of Joliet, Illinois.

another close one but same era, might be Frentress split diamond, Patented December 14, 1875

JayinNY- Naw, your head, heart and life lines are not even close. Your life line tells a story though.

There is also a 'Devil's Rope' bob wahr museum located in McLean, Texas. Never thought I could spend two hours touring a barb wire museum.
