I have been getting parts ready for months, and with the west coast record rain, I am starting to see oxidation on my new "rebuilt" parts. what can I coat the parts / flanges ect... with to protect before final assembly. My pole barn Has higher than normal moisture this year.

I have some Kroil penetrating oil, if I wipe all surfaces do I worry about contaminating the oil when putting together? Thanks

I know this will be for future reference, but what I do is save all those little desiccant packets you get with some
parts and electronics. I put the parts in baggies and pop a few of those in there with them. Works good for me.
Otherwise for right now, WD 40.

why would you use oil to keep things from rusting guess we have been wrong all these yrs maybe our oil had some special thing in it as it sure did stop rusting

Let me say years ago I had that problem on one I had it sprayed down with WD-40 . That stuff is worthless for rust prevention !!!
Try something else. Hyd. oil and thinned with kerosene enough to spray will work. I think that is what I went to. Then I started heating the space and running a dehumidifier too.
