Rain and people down south

Saw on the news tonight that many places like Mississippi are getting hit by 10-20 inches of rain. One town they talked about was Greenville MS which I have been in more then once with something like 12 inches of rain in the last 24-48 hours. So any how how are you guys down that way doing. Keep your heads above water and stay safe

Boy old, funny you should post this, I was at the horse farm around 6 pm,,we had pretty steady rain here in NY today, I remember you posted the other day that rain is headed our way, sure enought it's here! Lol, how did you make out with your Troy bilt roto tiller?

Waiting for a new float to come in. Could use a main jet adjustment needle but it is no longer services so have to get by with what I have.

Marilyn's brother and wife live in Clarksdale MS. We should give them a buzz. Maybe the heavy stuff didn't go that far north.

Its possible I have been through Cleveland or very close. We have driven from Clarksdale to New Orleans three times over the past few years.

That's a lot of rain even for down there. I was raised in south AR and Dad ran the cattle outside the levee where the Arkansas, White and Mississippi rivers come together. Heavy rain is something you learn to deal with as well as flooding. Every few years a hurricane comes through and can dump 15-20" and have strong winds too. The news media likes to show how bad it gets but most of the time they are showing people that don't use their head.

I have a female 1st cousin, in Prarieville La. That seems to be a suburb of Baton Rouge. I got worried about her, and called her 2 days ago. She said she was fine, and all the flooding was in the northwest of the state. Anne called around noon today, and said she is probably going to have water problems now. She emptied 4 inches out of her rain guage, at noon her time, and it was still raining.

Yep, folks in my town (Shreveport/Bossier City) are being submerged. Barksdale AFB has recorded 15 inches so far and there's more to come. Several large subdivisions are under mandatory evacuation. Thousands have been displaced from their homes. News film shows hundreds of homes with water nearly up to their roof line.

This area experienced flooding last spring when repeated rain systems caused the Red River to flood to an almost record high. The flooding we are experiencing now is different: when the river rose, people had days of warning and time to prepare. This flood came from torrential rainfall which occurred in a matter of hours, at night, meaning that the water rose so high so fast that people were unprepared. They weren't even able to save their automobiles or their animals, or to retrieve valuables and block up their furniture. Also, it occurred in neighborhoods--nice neighborhoods--that are not normally susceptible to rising water flooding but are doomed by water from above.

My immediate neighborhood was not affected. My house is on a hill anyway, so I was only mildly inconvenienced by some road closures around me..

Cleveland MS is home of Delta State U and back when I lived there my dad was a Professor there. That was also where I delivered over 1500 newspapers every day
