OT: Old Hammer Mill

Folks:

A thread over on farmallcub.com precipitates this post .I'm taking down what is left of my dad's 100 year old barn [ not much ] and I expected to trash the hammer mill that caused my brother and me much pain .Grinding feed was one of our most disliked farm tasks.

Apparently these things have a following and that is news to me . This unit was probably last used 40 years ago . I'm in Louisiana , of course , and would be pleased to give the thing to whoever might like to have it . If so , PM me and we can talk . I know nothing about PMing so I hope I can receive such things.

I can't personally help you, but yes, I sure think that's worth saving, and someone out there wants it.

I unbolted my grandfathers David Bradley from the barn floor, brought it with me, and switched it over to PTO drive. When we had youngsters here, and my wife had chickens and a couple of pigs, we ground our own feed. It's still in good shape.

A neighboring farm which I rent was the only one around here which had Case machinery. They let a little building collapse and fall in on a perfectly good Case hammer mill. Then it was dragged to the woods. It was still sound enough a couple years back when I got a scrapper in to clean up their place, that they dragged it back out of the woods!

So I hope someone steps forward and wants yours.

Neighbor gave me one that was in his barn. I took off all the lighter stuff. Before I could get back with more help, some Effing scrap metal thieves stole the main unit. It was an IHC in great shape, good paint and logos.

They are still pretty valuable. I sell everyone that I can find to the Amish and they will pay several hundred dollars for a real good one.

If I wasn't a the top of the US and you at the bottom. I'd be there to get it. I'm currently working over a JD10a mill and looking for a bigger screen for it.

At least put it on craigslist.

Post some pics for our curiosity.

Still have the one I grew up with. It is a CASE hammermill. Put a lot of grain through it.
