My daughters show choir is going to competition in Nashville this month.

Do you have suggestions where we can go for dinner and hear musicians?

David, we have live music all over the place here on a regular basis. In the Downtown District (Broadway) there are numerous clubs and resturants that have musicians playing daily and you can browse through them and check them out. There are also concerts at venues around town from small to large. There are usually concerts going on at the Ryman auditorium with some well known names. When you get here you can look in one of the entertainment magazines (Nashville Scene, etc) and see what's going on that week. Have a good time.

The Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center is an awsome place just to see. I stayed there year ago. Food is very expensive and so are the rooms. May cost you just to park.

Ryman Auditorium. On the next street over is bars like Tootsies where live music is played . I went at 10 am Monday morning live singer from Canada. Big band at corner bar. Tootsies is historic but it needs a good cleaning .They think 1950s dust is cool.

David I guess a better question is where you can,t go and eat and have music. I have lived here all my life and Nashville is the country music capital for sure. I can,t go out on a limb and recommend any one. Just park and take a stroll down Broadway and you will find something to your taste. We do the wildhorse but there are many more . E-mail is open if you need more information

I might recommend you go to yelpdotcom and look at restaurants etc. You can sort by price etc and read reviews. It's very helpful to get a "feel" for some places. Another website is traveladvisor dot com. Of course the recommendations from the fellows who live there is very valuable also. I use both of those site often when traveling and find them helpful. Ive been in Nashville 2-3 times for conventions etc and find it a very interesting town.

been 3 yrs since I was there but I liked the downtown area. like others have said eats and music everywhere. the old grand ole opery building and don't forget the hall of fame. It is just fun to walk around and look in little bars windows. usually an artist of different degree sitting in a corner playing for tips. Saw a guy singing a song and spit his false teeth out on the floor. Not missing a beat he shoved them back in and kept right on singing. still laugh over it. just off broadway is a little street called painters alley. clubs and bars are neat there. near the grand ole opery across the road used to be a mall that had a willy nelson store in it. hotel is neat to walk through as the main floor has a wondering stream going through most of it. My only problem was seemed like you could never get from here to there without going yonder and back. all places I mentioned are/were family friendly even though it says bar or club.

I have a Navy buddy that lives in that area. He live close to Franklin TN. Just got off the phone with him a few minutes ago. I could find out from him what is in that area if you want me to

If you want home cooking go to Arnolds. It is called a Meat and Three [3 sides]. I went at almost closing time and got all kinds of free pie. You get whatever meat they cook that day.

if you like bluegrass music look up the station inn they have a web site just a little hole in the wall but good good bluegrass music

just off broadway is a little street called painters alley.

It's actually Printer's Alley. Broadway and 2nd Avenue have lots of places. Many good restaurants also.

Yes, the Gaylord Opryland Hotel is a destination of its own. Just go in and look around--it'll take you a while. The new Opryland Theater is just a few hundred yards away, with the country music museum next door to it (or was when I was there a few years ago.)

The Parthenon is another pretty interesting place to visit.
