last day or so got the gout in left ball of my foot, anybody know a quick cure. its hard to walk around like this, cant get a work boot on

Cannt help you out on that as I too have the balls of my feet that feel like they are the size of basketballs. Uncomfartable as all H---. Do not know what is wrong with mine,Drs. dont know either.

It may take awhile to go away. I had a bad attack once, pills weren't getting the job done. Neighbor's daughter was visiting her folks and she happened to see me drinking iced tea. She's a dietician and told me that I shouldn't be drinking coffee or iced tea if I had gout. I had heard that cherry juice of any kind works the best on gout. I stopped drinking tea and started drinking a couple glasses of black cherry juice every day. Might have been some coincidence with the meds, but in 2-3 days my foot started getting better and I could walk normal in another few days. I'm a big advocate of drinking the cherry juice. Look for the bottles in the health food section of the supermarkets. Trader Joes has cherry juice if there is a store near you. Price varies by demand, supply and type of cherry. I think that the sour cherry juice is one of the best. Now I drink about 6 ounces of cherry juice about 3 times a week as a maintenance thing.

Drs.did say that it could be a side affect from the meds that I have been takeing for 57 years. Affects senior citizens but is rare.

I know the feeling. had an attack couple of weeks ago. had to go buy some cheap shoes with Velcro straps & max width + 1 step up in size, couldn't get into any of mine. this deal caught me as wife was in hospital, stress may add to problem, IDN. having to walk on them anyway made it tough. came up with 'allopurinol' from daughter. had taken it before, so knew no problem. also real black cherry juice helps me.

there is no quick cure. red meat is very bad, and so is organ meat. also alcohol is bad.beer very bad. some fish is also bad .anything high in purines is bad. need to keep your uric acid level dowm. its the uric acid level that climbs and causes the pain. eat lots of celery as thats a good thing for it,cherry juice too. i also take URCINOL PILLS, as its just a dietary uric acid management supplement. them dam doctor pills are hard on liver. fix one thing and wreak another thing. these pills seam to be working for me the last few years, but still get an attack every so often like this fall. had to combine with one workboot on and one slipper as foot swollen and work boot dont fit. this is the # for the urcinol... 1-888-754-0313.
doctor just gave me ULORIC TABLETS to try as this is to keep the uric acid level down. just started them three days ago. wants my acid level down to 300 as its like 400 now which is not really high.

and to add...glucose, fructose is very bad also. such as in soft drinks and about every other thing you drink.
its about drinking water, water, and more water to flush the acid out.

If they feel like you are walking on stones even when you are in bed, it might be Plantar Fasciitis. It's inflammation of the tendon that controls all the movement in your foot. I have had it and a cortizone shot works wonders.

Eat red tart cherries, I would get it from eating to much pork, I do not think red meat causes it, it's caused by to much uric acid in your diet.

I have had it for years, very painful. Allopurinol to be taken every day as a maintenance drug. Drink lots of water to flush the uric acid out of your system. When I have a flair up I take Indomethacin in my case it takes care of it in just a couple days. Bob

Yes some fish is bad. My dad loved salmon but he had to give it up because of gout. Apparently salmon is one of the worst offenders.

A lot of things mentioned below plus asparagus is really bad and so are cashews and pecans. Drink plenty of water.

as others have said rich foods, and some spices. Uncle couldn't do garlic, I cant do tomato juice. trauma to toe or foot can do it as well. If I stubbed my toe or twisted my foot I would start feeling a tingle in that area and start the ibprofin and it would most times beat it to the bad stage. Ibprofin can help but you need to take on a norm at least 600 or 800 mg and they come in 200mg tablets over the counter. Get the red coated ones from walmart are cheapest and best for your stomache. Gout is uritic acid in your blood stream that crystalizes like a temp arthoritus. Someone mentioned Allpurinal as a treatment.THIS WORKS and isn't necessary a permanent thing to do. Dr. told me there isn't much to do with an active case but once its over hurting a quick blood test will show weather your levels are to high or low. most times you will need to take meds for 6months or so and retest blood may be something you want to take couple times a week for awhile for safe measures. Hope your attack is short lived as I can think of very little that hurts worse than gout.

I have had something similar this week, big toe blue ,ball of foot sore and blue across foot, painful to put a shoe on.I cut the toe out of a low top shoe and my foot slipped on easily with no pressure on it.It is back to about back normal today.Went to the doctor tue for an unrelated cause she looked at it could not tell if was Gout said there is a test that requires a needle to go in the joint of the ball take a sample to test,we did not do that.I got steroids for my other problem she said the steroids would help.Getting the pressure off really made a difference.Cut shoe until it gets the pressure off.

Drink a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in 6-8 ounces of water. It is not an instant cure; takes several hours, usually to work. If you can feel it coming on the day before and you take a dose before bed you won't wake up with it. 8)

Ditto for me. I carry indomethacin in my travel bag but have not had an attack since I quit drinking soda pop almost 2 yes ago
