Was told this loader has the same engine found in the JD 4320 OR THE 4320 ENGINE. I want to install a check valve to keep the diesel system from draining back into the fuel tank. The fuel tank sits below the engine.
Where should I INSTALL THE CHECK VALVE???????????/ THANK YOU

I didn't look up the part # in JD but it goes on the fuel filter base. When I worked for JD Ind. dealer we sold quite a few.

It shouldn't be draining back, is it draining or you just want to put one in as a preventive measure? New hoses and checking for minor air leaks should take care of any trouble

The factory check valve was installed at the fuel filter base. I have had much better luck installing them at the fuel tank. Look at it this way. Is it easier to keep a garden hose full by holding your thumb over the top of the hose or the bottom??? The current part number is AR73888 list price of $49.77. I usually get used ones off the combines, JD 6600 or JD 7700 had them.

The original fuel filter has been replaced with one of those kinda square glass looking filters like are on the newer tractors..

If you want a cheaper, generic, valve than the one mentioned already, give Mcmaster Carr a try. The link is to a 3/8 NPT check valve, but they have other sizes, down to 1/8 NPT.

I've used them for years on quite a few different machines, and never had a problem.

As far as where to put it, either just prior to the fuel transfer pump, or right at the tank should work just fine.

That is a better filter system. It is much easier to bleed and change the filters on this setup. You trouble with bleeding back fuel is a air leak in the system. It can be a line or even internally in the injection pump. I have had combines that I could NOT find the leak and they would bleed off over night. So I just installed a second check valve right at the tank by the electric fuel pump. 90% of the time that solved the problem.

Len, a lot of times if you just go through and replace ALL of the "olives" on the fuel lines, it will eliminate that drain back issue. Seen it a few times, where the olives look ok, but you replace them and it takes care of it.
