Buying JD 7000 parts

Putting together the few missing pieces to the seed meter drives. For some reason the drive chains, idlers and rollers for the row units seem to be mostly missing on this planter. I just scored a parts book which makes the search that much easier. I bought up all the needed parts I could find on ebay, which wasn't many. Google search for parts was successful, but they come direct from a company in China. I do not see this as a positive trend as it means they are no longer using US companies to distribute their (often) cheesy replacement parts, so no real contribution to any local economy here. I guess now that I have the parts book I will head out there and make a complete list of what is needed. Maybe call Worthington and see do they have any planters in the bone yard. I have a few catalogs here for the major aftermarket suppliers. Any places you know of stock a lot of used or aftermarket planter parts?

shoups in kankakee illinois had just about everything you need for the 7000. good people to do business with check out shoup parts dot com, or give em a holler at 800-627-6137.

I have these 4 furrow openers if you want. $120 for the set.

I did a rebuilder 7000 maybe 15 years back. There are a handful of companies that handle aftermarket parts. Shoup has been mentioned, Sloan Express is another, SI industries handle some stuff also. I never looked for used as I always figured yards stuck to mostly tractors and combines. A ad in the farm bureau spokesman or the like may provide some help, if you are a member it is free and I have had pretty good luck with the farmer to farmer section.

Mother Deere can be competitive also, and many Kinze parts will bolt right on as they are a clone.

Dave, Shoup is a good resource for replacement parts. Many times Deere parts will be the most reasonable of all on some. Precision Planting makes very good meter replacement parts. If you need a used part a good place to get them is Kalsem Salvage at Waterloo, IA. Their phone number is 319-296-2236. Mike

I don't recall seeing openers that look like that on mine, but will keep your handle and the info on hand. I have a six row but not likely they would all need replacing.

Shoups is the place. WQe buy a lot of parts there and never had a problem. If you buy more than $200.00 the freight id free. I plan to make sure the bill is at that or just a bit more.
