Got done with corn harvest yesterday.Waited all winter. It just STAYED wet. Hovered at 17-18% all winter. The
first load (december 8) was 16%.Each suceding load was one % wetter. When it got to 20(they were feeding it)we
quit.Hovered at 17-18. Late last week we got a wind storm and some warn days. It plummeted to 13%! So I
'busted my butt' and got it done.Did 3 or 4 loads a day . The old 95 did not have even one small 'hiccup'.
(love that machine).I am rejoicing!!

Another victory for a pre-electronics machine!
I have a 20 year old tractor here which has given me fits. Fortunately it has never completely quit when I really needed it. Turns out the replacement (OEM) relay which powers most functions isn't much good. I found an aftermarket one (for half the money) cleaned the contacts on the OEM replacement one, and put it on the shelf.

It's the best feeling in the world to be all done ! And even better when you had no brake downs got it all done and everything is in the barn. Now its time to sit back in the easy chair ware it's nice and warm and have a cold adult beverage ! Got to love they good old JD 95's there like the energizer bunny they just keep going and going and going........... Bandit

If you still have decent fences around the fields, now is the time to make the critters get their own lunch. Feeding cattle or hogs??- turn them into field in late morning and get them back in evening, what a small milking herd is good for when corn stand is over wintered. Hardy sows for spring farrow- turn them out into fresh picked over wintered field and let them glean, weed and feed/fertilize, half plow the field. Then just need a pass with disc before planting beans. Mild Teasing Alert! RN

Back in 79 I think, I picked corn while the disc was working on the other side of the field. Used a Massey 510 combine with a 3 row head. That year we picked just a tic over 3000 acres with it. Got nasty blizzard in December, and the outer 60 or so rows were all blown in tight.
Back then, no one ever started picking corn in our area before Thanksgiving.
North central Nebraska.

We finished our last 15 acres a month ago. Crossed the scale at 18%, but if we didn't combine when the ground was frozen it would be June before it would be dry enough to carry a combine. That field had dropped from 20% in early december when we combined the rest of the farm in the mud. Been a strange winter here.
