Jd 40 thermostat

There is no thermostat in the JD 40. Water pumps and thermostats were used on JD 420's and 430's. The cooling system is thermo-
siphon (heat in the coolant makes it rise to the head and on to the top of the radiator) and then get cooled by passing to lower
end of radiator and enters the lower part of engine. If using antifreeze, it should be premixed with water 50/50 before you pour
it into the radiator.

No thermostat. If it's too cold and you dont have shutters (most don't) block part of the radiator and work from there.
