MF 50

A friend has a MF50 tractor that suddenly can't be shifted into 2nd or 3rd gear. 1st and 4th and reverse work fine. Is this a simple fix or a major under taking?

Are you sure this is a MF50?The only MF50s I've come across have 3 speed X/MIS with a HI/LO range.
In any case I think you have a shift fork dislodged,bent or broken.

On my 65, it gets stuck i take the big
nut off by the shifter & you can move it
back into place with screwdriver.

Yes its a MF 50, It has a 4 speed transmission with a high & low

Thanks for the info. I'd hate to have to pull the top off the transmission.
