Hello all--I'm needing to know what tool [socket?] is required to remove this Cummins fuel injector. been a while, but think I pulled some with a deep socket, can't remember the size. these thread into head, not pencil type. thanks---

I've always used a 15/16 deep socket with no issues on the B series engines. I believe it's actually 24mm.

I have had issues getting then injector out, most of the time a little wiggling with a wrench being mindful of the alignment ball in the injector not to damage the head while pulling up got the out. For the real stubborn ones I have a little puller made up out of a piece of pipe with the correct size metric nut welded to the lower end of a short piece of threaded rod with a thick washer to pull the stubborn ones out. Injector could have 12 or 14 mm threads depending on which injection pump it has.

thank you MikeJM! you refreshed my memory--I have a slide hammer--will check on nut sizes. remember now--no twist wiggle room. this project is @ another location, making sure I don't get there & forget a tool

Gee's never looked a the size, i have the tool kit for the 3.9-5.9 But i never looked at the size. . And the injector PULLER works great , just don't try and twist them as they are indexed and need to be Pulled straight out. Tool kit is out in the truck , and the truck is covered in snow at the moment . I was going to look it up in my Snap OFf catalogue but now i can't find that. i am going back to bed , not a good day.

15/16" deep socket to remove the nut. As others have said, they have an index ball on the injector so it won't turn.... but you can probably rock it a little bit with an adjustable wrench... just to break the seal on it. Beyond that I just rock them with a vise grip while pulling upwards. Technically you're supposed to install a slide hammer to the line connection an pull it... but who has that? LOL.
Just use lots of panther pis$ and gentle persuasion.
