Update on HR Block issue

Have been trying to submit e-file my taxes since Saturday on H&R software. Thing is failing to accept the upload. Directs me to call their 888 number help line. Been on them twice, and no resolution. They will call back within 24-48 hours. First time they stood me up, prompting me to call them, another delay for two days. They just called. Problem is on their end. They will issue an update on the 23rd that should take care of the problem. We'll see!

I am not happy on several levels, especially that they are unable to resolve this issue promptly. Also resent the "we'll call back in 24 to 48 hours, which virtually tied me to the house and computer for 4 days.

Watch me when I file next year's taxes on their competitor's software.

Dee,from Mid Michigan Tax in Lakeview does mine. She lives in Stanton,so I just drop them off to her at home. She calls when she's done and I pick them up. No hassle,no frustration.

If I took mine to anyone there would be a whole lot of frustration.
By the time I generate all the data necessary to file, I might as well enter it myself and e-file.
Problem now is that THEIR software is not working, and their technical help is worse than useless.

I'm having trouble with TaxAct online, I get signed in and when I get to the page to fill out the form All I get is a blue circle with rectangles bouncing around in it.

I keep everything on Quicken. All I have to do it print it out, take her whatever 1099s I get in the mail and she takes care of it. Doesn't take ten minutes to get it all together. She has all of my depreciation and what not. She always calls with a few questions, but that's about the extent of it.

E-mail me a copy, Ray. I'll send it for you. Won't be any hassles then. Send it thru with the rest of my load for today.

wife does the same as RRlund, been taking them to the same gal at H&R Block for 30 years, she owns the store. Finds stuff we wouldn't know about.

I fell out with Block many years ago. They refused to put down a deduction I was legally allowed because they were paranoid it might cause an audit. They advertised to go with anyone audited so played it "safe ". Using an independent accountant since.

Hey, Thanks Dave. If they can't get it right by Tuesday, I'll be in touch. What burns me is that they dropped the ball on their own software, and their tech support is so poor. After 3 rounds, no solution, you'll have to wait for our latest update. On my second round, they admitted that it was a "known issue." And then there's the referral to another tech who will call you within 24 to 48 hours. Basically had me a prisoner in my own house for 4 days. That I am recuperating from surgery, not withstanding. But had to be in reach of phone and computer. Another easy solution would be to print it out and simply drop in the mail. But I paid for a service I'm not getting. Grrrrr!

wow I guess everybody's farm is different. I have to have an accountant to do mine. it takes me several days just to measure grain in bens and count everything left over or things pre-payed for just a BIG HASSEL

I have an independent accountant do mine and file the return electronically. A few years back the IRS misread one form. They sent me a letter claiming I made a mistake and owned them hundreds more $$$. It took my accountant six months, many phone calls, and several letters/ documents later to convince the IRS that I was correct and the IRS was wrong. She didn't charge me a dime for it.

Stonerock - you got that right. just a big hassle. No matter how you do it. I have hay and grain, lots of wool in various stages of processing as well as animals, etc. Sad part is that after all the figuring, I usually end up taking standard deductions, and my work is meaningless.

If you put it in the mail, there is an affidavit you need to attach. Seriously, if it keeps up just send it over here and I will have you all set shortly. Not having any problems with e-file so far.

Your method of reporting is on the accrual basis rather than cash basis which does require a lot of extra work. I was never a big farmer but did my own taxes and operating on yearly expenses and yearly income sold so didn't worry about what was on hand at the end of the year.
