haven't been real good around the farm. 1st calf heifer freshened, calf okay, but the cow prolapsed her uterus and the cow side off her stepped on them and tore a hole in the uterus. Last night another one was trying to freshen. twisted uterus. Another vet bill. About noon Jeff calls me and says, "Got an oil leak in the skid steer. Wanna give me a hand? Tipped the cab up, and poked around the "can of worms" hoses and lines for a bit. Got an idea of where the leak MAY be, but didn't want to start taking lines apart unless we were sure. Jeff says, "Time to call Whites and be done with it". Whites guy pokes around and he can't be sure either, since we can't operate the loader with the cab up. Sooooooooo, load her up and take it to their shop. I expect the easiest way to get at the thing to work on it and save a lot of skin will be to pull the motor. Looks like a fairly easy job to pull it. We figg'r the vet bill will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $750-$800. Fun on the farm.

Sometimes nothing seems to go right. Had days like that. Hauled cows home couple of months ago and one was limping pretty badly but got her loaded with the rest of them. Seems to have one back leg didn't want to cooperate, like maybe a hip problem. Talked to the vet and he said she could have injured a hip, not good. After home a week or two she was down and couldn't stand. Fed and watered her for a couple weeks hoping for recovery but she just went down hill until death did us part. We had some wet icy weather while on pasture and I think she slipped and injured her hind quarter. Then in the same cow herd another one just lay down and died before I saw anything wrong. Guess I shouldn't complain as sometimes I can go years without losing a cow.

I sure hope Whites sent you a loaner to use. RI has a free loaner for up to 25hrs. when a skidsteer they sold comes into the shop, then it goes on rent.
I worked for Dale and Art for 3 years after we closed. The wife worked for them for 4 years, and then we both went back to our roots with RI. Fultonville.

Don't know Loren. I haven't talked to Jeff since he came home and started chores. We can run the feed cart right up to the back of the truck and shovel the TMR in. But I'll ask Jeff about it when I take a milk jug up to the barn.
