Safety Gas Cans

Looking into getting a couple five gallon safety gas cans. Anyone have experience with the newer Eagle models? I see Grainger also sells a metal one. Please, no more plastic. Need a good flow. Thanks

Menards and others have a spout to replace the "safety spouts" that do not work. Kit also includes a conventional "old" vent! that works.

The heavy duty steel Eagle cans are very good quality as far as durability. They can be a little clumsy trying to get into tight spaces, and are known to trickle gas down the side of the can when they are full and trying to pour. Another problem is they don't seal airtight when the spring loaded lid goes down. If you use a lot of gas, don't use for long term storage, that won't be a problem. But evaporation speeds the "rancid" factor.

The others, well, good luck... It's a trade off. Good storage, go with plastic with good seals. Metal for durability.

The plastic with the valve built into the nozzle, absolutely worthless!

Might find something on Ebay. The old plastic with a vent are not too bad if you're careful with them.

Good flow and safety cans do not go along with each other. These new EPA safety cans are a joke at best and the only thing safe about any of them if if you never fill one with gas. Other wise if you use them you will spill gas no matter how much you try not to. If you already have the plastic safety cans just go to a place like Orscheln's and buy the spout kits and that will fix your gas can problem

(quoted from post at 14:40:36 02/15/16) Orscheln's has those kits. I can not see ever buy form out of town when you can find it in town JFYI by the way

Not sure if you are talking about the vent caps. The ones I bought from Amazon are made in the USA is why I bought them from Amazon. Supporting the American worker.

Going against the grain here, but the new "No Spill ". Brand gas cans are great. I don't waste a drop, either.

Only $4.95 at the local Menards. Comes with 2 different sized caps. Says on the packaging it is for your water jugs.

Eagle type 1 is a decent can for the money. The funnel looks awkward, but it stays clean, and can be easily removed/cleaned just the same. Don't store them in direct sunlight, ease up on the handle to relieve any pressure, and this one is supposed to do that on its own at a certain pressure if I recall. I was not sure about these myself, can't hurt to try one, so I did, a yellow one (diesel). I'm sure you can get make other containers pour fast, but using a 3 step fold up step stool, its no trouble to fill my tractor. I don't care for a fast pour, always makes a mess, can't see in tank and that ends in overfilling. They are nice in that besides a lone spatter of fuel on occasion, they don't leak out the top. Kept cool,(in shade) and dry seems to work best.
