I was out and about yesterday. Unfortunately I filled the SUV up locally. The gas price was $1.499. Which is not a bad price compared to what we have been giving. However I went to Preston, Iowa to look at some equipment. There is was $1.359 That is the cheapest I have seen it for a long time. I have bought gas well under a dollar in the last fifteen years too. I remember traveling back to see some of the wife's family and buying gas in Indiana for $.699 which is the cheapest in the modern era. I can remember gas for $.199 in LA in the early 1970s. That is the cheapest I can remember gas being. Even back in ht e early 1960s gas was still in the $.259-.359 range.

Bought gas in Ft Smith , Arkansas about 10 days ago for $1.219. Has gone up 6 cents a gallon since then. Probably will go up more this week after the rise on Friday.

Gas is $1.239 in MO.....The cheapest I can remember is 12 cents a gallon during a gas war in the mid 1960's...During my senior year in 1967 it was 19.9 cents a gallon...I dove a 20 mile round trip to school each day on $1.00 per week..

This was in Greenville MI last week. Cheap enough to take a photo and text it to my brother in Seattle just to rub it in.

I had $1.35 for a few days, then jumped to $1.59. Yep, I remember the cheap gas in 60's. Had a VW with a 10 gallon tank, couldn't put $3.00 of gas in it. Had a honda 305 MC, couldn't put a $1 worth of gas in it. At the same time I was working part time while going to college for $1/hr. So gas was less and so was my income. Someone needs to do the math, adjust for inflation and tell me if I was better off back them.

Good luck with that. We got down to $1.32 then jumped to 1.78 for no reason what so ever, then worked all the way back to 1.18,then jumped to 1.58. The lying brainless excuses don't work on me anymore.

I have posted gas price photos from South Jersey and I am going to pick up gas this morning. Is that gas station like the jokes out there. Is it Ole and what is the wife's name? Love good old PC non correct jokes. All of this pc stuff came from Europe didn't it?

I think you were better off then, George. I hired some kids a couple years ago to unload hay and stack in the barn. Paid them 10 bucks an hour, each got 40 bucks. One of them asked if I did hay when I was their age- sure did, and told them I got $1.25 an hour, so my check would have been for 5 bucks instead of $40. He grinned and said "Boy, times sure have changed, haven't they?" Indeed they have, said I- I could fill my car with gas and have enough left over to take my girlfriend out for a hamburger with my $5- you can't even fill up your car for $40. The smiles quickly faded. . .

Back to the present, the differential between gas and diesel is interesting. Many places are at $2.05 for both here- haven't seen gas for less than about $1.95 in my part of Western Washington.

Some time back in the 70's I went thru Willmar MN which is on Highway 12. At that time the main highway went thru the center of town.On one corner there were 3 gas stations on the same corner. They were having a price war and gas was .17 a gallon! I had filled up on Minneapolis which is only about 60 miles or so and didn't need any gas..but I sure remember that trip

Filled up last Thursday for $129.9, both Mobil and Speedway in Flint, MI. And no, I did not drink the water..

Before gas prices jumped in 70's I remember buying #1 heating oil for $.11. Diesel was always cheaper than gas before epa had the sulfur removed.
