Hey JD - 7800?

I thought of JD Seller but lots of you may know.

7800 FWA tractor with a little less than 8000 hours I think. It has started leaking onto the FWA tube under the engine. I thought front crank seal right away but I crawled under it today and it looks like the front of the oil pan. It is damp up on the pan bolts but it isn't running down from the crank seal. Is that familiar for this engine? I'm thinking pulling that pan would stink because of that drive shaft. It isn't actively dripping off the tube but the top of it has oil on it. This is the planting tractor so I'm trying to decide whether it is something annoying or something to add to the repair list.

Check the pan bolts. I have trouble on my JD 7810 with them loosening up. The front drive shaft is not too bad to take down. If you remove the oil pan completely it is easier with the shaft out.

The front left corner of the aluminum oil pan likes to crack on the 7000 series 7.6 and 8.1 engines. Deere offers a revised oil pan for much$$. My 7810 was leaking there last year. Pulled the pan, I was lucky just a bad gasket. Those pan bolts on the 8.1 need to be tight! Something like 50 ft lbs and I think a couple of bigger ones 80 ft lbs.
