Prestone in original container

I have some prestone in its original 4 liter sized container and have had it for 15 years or so. Does antifreeze degrade or go bad with time when it is not being used?

Some folks say an unopened bottle has an unlimited shelf life. I looked at Prestone's site and they just say it will last many years. I would think once mixed if it checks out with an hydrometer it would be safe to use.

have used old antifreeze like that & toward the bottom, noticed jelly/semi-solids. Don't know what that is, but assumed it liquefied again with circulation & heat. Never saw a problem.

If you are a collector type take it to a big car show and sell it. Make a few bucks. Hershey car show is the largest in the world and you just would not believe what you see.

15 years is nothing. I've got some that might be going on 20 years, and when I need it, I will use it without a second thought.

It is not collectible unless it is an original tin container. Not plastic.

It may be allright if you have a brass radiator. The additive that prevents your radiator from rusting is the issue, it is only good for a couple of years. I contacted Prestone a few years ago they told me that the unopened shelf life was 3years. There is a long life antifreeze now that is good for 5years. I don't know what the shelf life is on it.
