reverse tire farmall cub.

hello everybody. I am in the process of restoring a farmall cub and i had a question about the tires. Aparently the rear right tire was installed backwards. The person that owned it before me bought it from a guy in alabama who told him there was a reason the tire was backwards. but we cant remember what he said. :D My grandfather and i were just curious if anybody out there knew why. thanks.

ONE reason MIGHT be that a tire went bad and someone replaced it with a tire and rim from (the other side) of another tractor.

Many times the tire is reversed to allow a person to back out of a wet spot easier, or perhaps it's to adjust for a different row width..

it can also be as simple as a tire got repaired, and mounted on the other side of the wheel rim from where it was removed, this would make the tread backwards when the wheel rim was installed in the same width position as the other side of the tractor

We have an older gentleman that has a Massie with the rear tire tread on backwards. He goes on numerous tractor rides, and says the tire wear is much more even from the hard surface roads.

For good traction you want the tread pointing the right way. The right side of a cub is light
anyway with the engine offset to the left. A little weight or some liquid in the right side can
equal out traction. But you want the tread correct.

Well that ain't the way I heard it sunny! Remember magee and molly? If you are sitting in the seat of the tractor and looking to the front, BOTH tires will look like arrows pointing to the front. Plain and simple. Now going to that other ex-stream. Driving on hard roads you can get vibration from the treed at certain speeds. Kind of rattles your bumm. If you have one reverse it MAY make a difference. They can't vibrate together? Tire slap? Don't know. I haven't tried it so let us know when you put it on the right way around and then drive it. As far as traction goes you must have it with the arrows to the front. Makes a big difference. "And the correct police will get on your butt".
