Do you need a tractor topic?

Sure is dull on here. Is it because some people's heads explode if not every post is tractor related?

Let's try one then. If you collect one brand like I do,is there one tractor of another brand that you'd like to have?

For me,it would be a blue and orange Fordson Dexta. My uncle traded an Oliver 60 off on a new one when I was just a little guy. I always loved the sound of that little thing.

Though not intentionally IH red, and find some other tractors and brands desirable, I have a fancy for Oliver super55, and Massey Ferguson 135. They are just right. Jim

I'm a die hard IH RED guy. but I like em all.1030 Case;1950 Oliver;JD730;JD D ;WD 45 AC; any 'Minnie';5/7/8/9000 Ford........Like I said,I like em all.So anything that strikes my 'fancy' is fair game! BTW,Randy,I have an Oliver (46) 60. A neat,fun little tractor.Looks so cool on it's 36" rear 'cutoffs'.With it's (2" conduit)straight pipe it sounds MEAN!

I want that 1900 or 1950 Ollie with the Detroit and 4x4--there was one out in Washington state and it had the front blade--if it was closer it would have been in our shed...........

id love to have a d21 with a chrome grill, series 2 of course, also a 4010 jd.i have no use for them other than just maybe a tr ride

Massey Ferguson 65, Uncle bought one brand new in fall of 57. Thought that gold name was really pretty on it. Put it in barn and look at it.

An Oliver 1850 or 1950...or similar. 90-110 hp, open station, work lights in the fenders. My 1586 is pretty much a tillage tractor with the duals on all the time. Thinking the olly would be a little smaller, fit down the lanes easier, powerful enough to help out with just about anything. Currently my next smallest is the SMTA but lives on this side of town and does hay. Next at the farm is the 300U and it is not always big enough. Great tractor otherwise.

If it had front wheel assist...

Love my John Deere D. I have a yard full of Minnies- U, Z,GVIs. One more tractor? An AC D-15, just like the one I used to ride on with Uncle Ralph.

I started out trying to just focus on JD 2 cylinders. But as time went on I got interested in other tractor makes and the history behind him so that now in addition to JD I have IH, Case, Oliver, Massey, and a few others.

I mainly have deere, but would like a German MAN Ackerdiesel 4 cylinder MFWD, Oliver 28-44, Allis D19 Diesel, fordson rowcrop with P6 Diesel. I would like an Elwood? MFWD for my Ford 681. This all is way more than my wallet can handle.

i have two masseys two kubotas and one newholland im not real parcial to any really just like em all.when i cross paths with one of them i might buy it if the moneys right and its a decent tractor.
RICK

I like them all, grew up with John Deere. I have three John Deeres, two fords, one allis chalmers, one oliver, eight farmalls.

I have 3 Cases ,3 IH , 2 Olivers and 2 Cub Cadets . But I really want a M-M RTN. I need to see how that kind of engine works .

well I have had a '56 JD 420 W for 48 yrs and a '53 40c for about 25 yrs and a Ford Jubilee for about 15 yrs and am presently redoing a '48 8n, I am quite partial to the old 2 cyl JD .

I collect the other green (Oliver), but have recently taken a limited interest in Cockshutt.
I've got a neighbor who has collected JD tractors for 50+ years. Suddenly, he is on an Oliver craze and he's jealous of my Olivers.

I grew up on AC's and JD's. I have a few antiques of both(no 2 cylinders though). MM's have long intrigued me. They seemed like great machines. There were none around here. I don't know why. There was a dealer nearby.

Have lots of Molines and Olivers that I collect and sell parts from. Been following the Case forum and really like the way all the guys help each other out. Also when I was in high school, I had a summer job with a neighbor and he let me run his Black Knight 1070. A super tractor. With that said, probably a Case tractor.

I like Allis and Farmall but always liked the Ford 3 or 4000 series with the square sheet metal. Always thot they look good.

I have John Deere two-cylinders and a Ford 4000, but I would like a Case DC and a VAC. Oh! and a Cockshutt 40 and a Ferguson 30 and a Farmall 400 and a Cub and maybe a WD-45. Is there a limit?

Does color really matter, my nephew thinks so?

I have an Oliver 550D, MF 135, MM 4 Star Super, JD 710 (Canadian, 60 HP, similar to 2020) and Cockshutt 35. Would like an Oliver (Fiat) 1365, and while we're dreaming, make it a 4WD.

I've got only Farmalls and not enough money for all those models I'd like to own. However if I had the money I'd be interested in a JD 70. Our neighbor had one when I was a kid growing up. When ever the mud got deep when chopping corn in the fall that was the tractor he used.Impressive machine.

I would like to have at least one of every brand but I have this little practical voice that keeps telling me I have too many tractors that don't contribute to my farming operation already. One tractor I'd like to own is a Minneapolis U because a close neighbor had one when I was a little kid and I thought that U was the biggest tractor in the world. I blew it a few years ago when I didn't bid on anything at an old far neighbor's estate sale that had a bunch of Minnies in the 40's to early 50's vintage. A couple or more of them were U's with a couple of UB's mixed in. They were going for $400-$500 and I just happened to be in a non-buying mood that day so I didn't raise my hand. The U's were not painted but most of them ran like a top, he was an excellent mechanic. I could have driven one of them the ten miles home with no worries whatsoever about having trouble. I do have Oliver, Deere, Case, Massey, IH and my son's wife has a 9N. If I was looking for a new tractor it would be New Holland IF I had a close dealer network with GOOD dealers. I do not have that close dealer network and the closet dealer has a bad attitude, in my mind anyway so that rules out blue tractors. There that's tractor related!

I'm partial to IH but any tractor on my place has to earn it's keep. I'll take any brand that gives little trouble and does the job.

As far as older tractors go then MM. Newer maybe 5-7000 Fords. It will be a long time before I get there so I will have to enjoy everybody else's via this site. Got to get some Whites, Olivers, and more JD first whenever that happens.

Riesters, just south of Auburn, on Dunning Avenue. There used to be MANY Riesters around there. Good farmers and business men. One ran a prosperous truck hoist/body shop for years. One had bees/honey/orchards/apples. Some were crop/dairy farmers. There is a Riester Road. BJ Riester operates the appliance store west of town, and expanded into Canandaigua.

Dad started farming with a WD Allis.....I remember it had a generator run with a vee belt from the belt pulley to run lites after dark....hand crank. Then a DC Case and never looked back. Always thought maybe I should look for a hand crank WD.

I have all Deere tractors but if I could pick another it would be an AC 190 XT because my grandfather had a brand new one and I remember riding on it while chopping corn silage with his 780 two row chopper.Dad had an AC D15 seriesII that I spent lots of hours driving as well.If I had to pick an IH it would be a 1206 or a 450 as both look sharp when painted up.For an oliver I like the look of the 1550,I am not sure if they made a 1555 or not.For Massey it would be an 1100 with a narrow front. The Ford 8000-9000's look good as well and it would also be narrow front. Tom

i have 22 JDs at least one of ever letter series but the GP also 420 520 620 &720 currently restoring Model R diesel, so guess i will stay with JD

I only own one tractor a 1936 Allis Chalmers WC....But if I ever had the money I would like to own a John Deere 720 Diesel pony start with a wide front, clam shell fenders with clamp on duals.....Just like the one my best friend's Father owned that I spent some long days pulling a disc over plowed ground as a young man......

Currently have 9.5 John Deere's the .5 one is still in Many pieces & someday will
be 10 it's a 44 Model A. I've owed a Oliver 60, A/C Model B & a Farmal A. The 2
cylinders are from 1942 to 1960. I don't dislike other brands, I just grew up on
John Deeres. We also farm with a couple new model's 2750 4wd & a 3255 cab 4wd.

If I won the lottery:

Build big shed.
I have JD but I would add a low hour 7410 with cab and air seat.
IH 966 Narrow Front, Drove planting Peas at the canning company in College.
AC 190 XT Series III or 200. Dad had later in farming career.
AC 190 XT Narrow Front, Series II. I love that Narrow Front.
Ford 9600. I have never drove one, just think they look cool, as I did back in College.
Case 1030 Row Crop, neighbor had one and I used to help him bale hay with it.
IH 1206, like the color scheme.
IH 806, Dad almost bought one rather than the AC, Dealer would not demonstrate one, AC dealer did.
Oliver 1655, drove at canning company in College on Reapers.
MM G1000 Vista, I never drove one but I sure would like to. I thought they looked cool.
MH444 Row Crop, Dad had MH44 Row Crops and MH444 Standard early in his farming career.
MF, I don't know, maybe an 1100. I liked the tin work in that period. My brother has one.
Maybe also MF1080.
AC D17 Series 4 and/or D19.
NO CABS, as many diesels as possible. Several Narrow Fronts.

Paul

I will keep my post on the bottom so as not to bore anyone.
Here is a list of my current collector tractors.

JOHN DEERE 310 DIESEL
JOHN DEERE LA
JOHN DEERE H[2]
JOHN DEERE MC DOZER
JOHN DEERE 630
JOHN DEERE 440 DOZER
ALLIS CHALMER G [5]
SILVER KING [2]
FARMALL M
FARMALL C
FARMALL A
FARMALL 350
FARMALL 20
OLIVER SUPER 77
OLIVER 1800 DIESEL
FARMALL CUB
FORD 8N

I also have a number of tractors that are a little newer that I use in my farming operation.
Always looking to see what tractor is trying to follow me home.

I have heard of Riester's in terms of appliances and the comments were always good. Also, heard of the truck hoist business. The most successful MM dealers I heard of were Coryn in Canandaigua and Gavin Brothers in Avon. Granted there were others around but I was told a few gave up around 1960 or so. Sometimes a good dealer faces a situation out of their control. Deere had some dealers that kind of took over in the region such as it was with the one in Hall during the 1970's. IH had some ultra successful dealers as well. I remember being sent to the IH dealer in Batavia around 1979 because the local one did not have the part in stock plus we needed to get that particular implement going that day and they had literally dozens of 86 series tractors lined up along Rte 98.

Well I'm JD but here's my other color list (starting with JD) 6030 JD , Oliver 2255/1955 T , AC 220 , Ford "Commander 6000" , IH 1468 , MM G 1000 Vista , MF Super 90 , Case 1570 "Spirit of "76 " . Can ya tell what 2 decades we farmed in?

I noticed you had your blue ford toys on the top shelf in your collection. I always knew what your real favorite was.

Sounds more like an unstyled WC...WD had gen/lites as standard equipment, just like the styled WC.

I've got as many tractors as I have jobs around here. I've got half IH and half Deere. The dealer support for Deere is great here. My grandfather would have a fit to know that something other than an International is pulling a disk here, but I can't use IH as a field tractor if I can't get quick service when needed.

What I would LOVE to have is a Massey Super 92 combine. We used one growing up and it was a great machine. I'd like to set it to cut oats or something and use it for that each year. The 9500 JD does a good job but you can't "feel" the machine working. I just need to find one sitting in the back of some guys shed that's been parked since 1985.

My antiques are Moline, but my current farm tractors are Deere. If I had to get something older to do field work with, I always thought the Allis 4W-305 was a cool looking tractor. Then the 8070 Allis would be next. Always liked the looks of the IH 5488 as well.

For me,it would be a blue and orange Fordson Dexta. My uncle traded an Oliver 60 off on a new one when I was just a little guy. I always loved the sound of that little thing.

The only one that I really want would be an Oliver 60 Wide Front. :)

I'm not too brand loyal. Lean towards deere but have all different kinds. Three on my bucket list outside of deere are an allis d21, oliver 2255, and a ih 1206. Like the early high hp iron. Still looking for a money tree....

I have mostly John Deeres and Minneapolis Molines, with a few others thrown in. Not really looking for any more, but a John Deere G or H would be fun. Right now I have 3 A's, 2 B's and 2 50's.
I also have 2 Farmall H's, but it would be hard to resist a nice M.

But as I said, I'm not looking for any. I have a hard enough time keeping up with what I already have.

I'm primarily a Farmall fan. Also have or have had Ford, JD, Cockshutt, A-C, and M-F. The first tractor I soloed on was an Earthmaster, But I find that Case kind of talks to me. Especially the SC, DC, or a VAC.

I have several brands around, but mostly Fords and Farmalls.
There are, of course, some rare models I'd love to have, but
what I'd really like to have is a new Kubota ~40 HP 4x4 with
the deluxe factory cab, FEL and a front mount snow blower.
Haven't needed it this season, but I will someday!
Maybe if I sold all the rest I could pay for it. ;)

I have the 50 J.D. B and the 44 Farmall H still. I have had and sold the last couple years: 45 farmall h, bf avery N ?, ac wc (bought and sold 3 times, made out good every time). If I were to get ones I would like I would start with a J.D. L, farmall bn, coop E3, oliver 55,99 and last a 50s era 20 series J.D. (320,420,520,620,720. and don't forget that little 35 fergy. LOL
