info on Massey Harris 44

Hi,
I purchased this tractor back 2012 at the Thomas Patterson Massey Harris Collection Auction and was wondering if anyone knew any info on it I was told it had M&W pistons in it and it came from a neighbor farm and info on the tractor would be appreciated thanks

It looks like it has been used as a pulling tractor, it could very well have M&W pistons in it.

The serial number is stamped on the transmission case right behind the shifter, please post that and closeups of engine.

there all the same picture the computer was acting up a bit last night and posted three of them its relatively flat i just angled the picture when i took it how long ago i know that it is the 277 motor i can try to get closer pictures of it ill have to look tractor came out of Ohio still has the zenith carb and i haven't opened it up to see what was done in it there is an electric fuel pump tucked in the rail the tractor is a pulling tractor has ignitor electronic ignition on it it and a dry element air cleaner just am trying to find out who pulled it and any history on it its a 51 44

A 277 would not be original for a 44, but the M&W pistons would take it up to a 285.

The engine serial number is in the upper left corner of the block on the right side.

The tractor serial number will be on the lefts side of the casting bellow the gas tank, probably gone, and stamped on the top of the transmission behind the shifter.

Please post those numbers.

277's came in the 44 Special. If yours is stamped 277, then it won't be the original engine if the tractor is a regular 44; moreso if it is a 1951 model---but how do you know that without knowing the serial #?

The engine will be a 277 displacement, but not a 277 engine with 4" sleeves.

i already looked up the serial number once before and it was a 51 the tag is missing on the motor but it is a 44 special motor that was put in it is stamped h277 the tractor was built for pulling i am looking to see if i can find the builder of the tractor and ask some questions on it
