I would like to put a Sound Guard cab on a 1972 4000 JD.Anybody know someone who has done this or if it would even work.

Post in the John Deere section below for best results. I have seen them done very nice, almost factory and have seen some real butcher jobs. Tom

Seen pictures. As Tom said, some good jobs, some butchered.NOT a bolt on deal.Almost need a complete donor tractor. Just buy a SG
tractor. Lots easier(and cheaper)........But if you want a challenge,and a 'one of a kind' tractor.....Go for it!

Last year in RedPower Magazine,An article about a man who put an 86 series cab on BOTH a 560 and 806.Did a first class, top notch job.Looked like factory. Said it took over 1000 hrs per tractor.

That's only 40 hours a week for 6 months.

Already have a 4230. It would be kind of unique since they only made 247 of this model in 1972.Thanks for the replies.k effective I found the video. Thank You.

John Deere tried it on a prototype but they decided it would be better to wait and put it on the generation 2 tractors

I had a neighbor that put a newer cab on a 3020. That was several years ago so I don't remember how long it took him . It looked almost factory. He found a donor tractor. Getting the AC working was the biggest challenge for him.
