ok so i bought a super mta and I'm doing a tune up on it and I'm ready to set the point gap and i can't get the cam to move in the distributor to set the the point how do i move the cam in the distributor

Pull the spark plugs out, put the crank in the front and slowly crank it until the points are on the top of the cam.

You put it in nuetral. then quickly bump the starter for a split second, to move the engine forward just a bit... till the points are at max open, and the rubbing block on the points is on the highest part of the lobe. then You can set the points gap. Sometimes its easier to put the tractor in high gear, key off and push/shove the rear tire till the engine turns over a bit and gets the cam lobe aligned up. Takes a bit of heaving to use this method but you can bump it forwards and backwards and get the cam perfect.
