OT - 92 Chevy Suburban Radiator Petcock

Was driving to work this morning when steam started pouring out from under the hood and I've never seen the temp gauge move to the right so fast. Pulled over and shut down. Opened the hood and what was still left in the radiator was trickling out of the drain petcock. The petcock was gone. It was one of those plastic petcocks since the radiator has plastic tanks. Had it towed to a garage. The mechanic said it's not uncommon for plastic petcocks to blow out from the coolant pressure. I've never had this happen before. The radiator was about 12 years old. Probably time for a new radiator. I asked him if he could find an all-metal one like the original one was. He said not much chance. Makes me appreciate old tractors. The Suburban's in great shape otherwise with 348k miles.
