So you can feel good about yourself

This is as big a scam as trading carbon credits.

Is that like a solar clothes dryer ? Where they send you a line and some clothes pins ! LOL.

Some people will send the money just so they will 'feel' good and they can tell their friends about it while they are driving in their Prius.

They'll have to drive a Prius. By the time they get in this scam, send their donations to PBS,NPR and PETA,they won't have any gas money left.

Worst thing about it is that it's a 25 year commitment. You have to buy in blocks. $10 a month is the minimum. You can commit to up to $100 a month.

I know of someone who raised funds to run a "sustainable ranch". People from all over the world mad minimum $5K donations toward the purchase of a 10K acre ranch in Montana. The person purchased and ran the ranch according to Alan Savory principles and has never been asked by any donors about their investment.

If people did not want to feel good they would not believe the BS of hucksters. In fact, I think it is so bad that people prefer to be lied to than hear the truth, other wise there would not be any used car salesman.

Guess I am old school, but if I were you and they wanted my attention they would start off with "Dear Mr Lund". Seriously, are you such good friends with the gas company that you are on a first name basis?

Are carbon credits considered legal tender? I just read that GMO crops lead to fourth generation infertility, the world just isn't safe anymore.

We just had a university put in a big solar farm at a local airport. IIRC the cost was in the millions and the university head honcho (dean, prez, whatever) clearly stated it would never pay for itself but that the "statement it made" out weighed that little problem.

It's a religion. Strike that, it's a cult.

Cedar Falls Utilities is building a solar farm as we speak. A lot of goofballs in any college town.

Hey, I run an toyota electric car, charge it with a honda eu6500 generator hooked to a toshiba charging station, so I dont even touch the grid..... And vote democratic while driving down the road looking a the birds, and purple unicorns while eating my soy burger.

NOT!!!!!!

They are building a big one of those east of Fort Collins right now. Good thing too, because the smog is getting worse over Fort Collins year by year. Should really help clean up the air in the future and make the corn crops really grow.

Several 100 acre solar farms here in Ontario. They receive 84 cents per Kwh. Consumers pay
about 12 cents per Kwh. Government example of reverse economics?

Ben

Got one of those myself today. They'll make sure they keep that solar electricity separate in the lines from coal generated...

Ross

Ya, sure they will Ross! LOL I got one too.
Maybe they should save the landfills instead.

You can't have a soyburger! Soy is now frowned upon, since it's in so many things we eat, and therefore must be doing something bad to our health.

The VA hospital in Topeka had a nice big lawn till some one decided they need to run the place off solar. Then the place was so ugly that they had to build a high fence around it so you couldn't see the solar panels. I even think they follow the sun.

BUT IT MAKES PEOPLE FEEL GOOD!
My wife was about an hour away from home and got caught up in a conversation with a total stranger, some lady in her 30's-40s.
This lady told my wife that she had recently built a house with 100% electric heat, complete with an electric water heater.
She told my wife that it was because electricity was completely renewable, the proof was all the electric turbines being installed around the country. My wife just smiled at her.
First off, this lady lives in an area that gets most of their electricity from Jeffrey Energy Center, a huge power plant that uses COAL!
Second, with everything figured into the equation, electricity from turbines is still one of costliest ways to produce electricity.
You can't argue with a lady like this, so my wife just smiled, nodded and went her own way.

Yes, Bret, you nailed it, it is a religion, the religion of environmentl-ISM. It is the State ie Federal Governmen, forcing this religion down
our throats, where is ACLU? we should be protected by the separation of religion and state! Much humor intended here, but I am also very
serious about the extreme abuse of power.

Jim, you are right, people too often want to be lied to, cause they like the warm and fuzzy feeling they get from thinking they "helped" save the environment. There is an old book which says in the last days of humanity "as we know it" "people will amass teachers, to teach them what their itching ears want to hear" the book also says, sound practical truth will be despised. I think many times of the implications portrayed in George Orwell's book, 1984. It is a book I was forced to read in high school back in 1974.

Good greif no !! I always know when something that Im eating is contaminated with soy ! I get Sick !! I have to look at the ingrediants on things like breakfast bars, and that kind of things if it has soy,or soy protine im runnin the other way If I eat any of that stuff it makes death look like a real good option

I would be interested in an all-electric car for my commute, even looked into the Fiat 500 electric, but it is only sold in CA. At one point, the electric utility I work for had offered to allow employees to charge their all-electric vehicles at work. THAT would make it worthwhile, as I have about a 12 mile round trip. I understand that concept for employees has never seen the light. I'm sure it is too costly. After all, at our place, with about 1200 people on site every day, at least 1100 of them are running all over unplugging stuff to plug in their phone and steal electricity in those, so there is none left for any cars.

Randy,
I received the same thing. I was going to post something about it, but was so irritated, I ripped it up and threw it in the trash.

Consumers Energy: "You give me $100/month for 25 years, I will give you a $46.90/month credit on your bill"

Homeowner: "Gee, where do I sign up to give you $53.10/month so you can build solar panels for YOUR company to profit from?"

COMPLETELY CRAZY!!!!!!!! I bet some will do it for the "feel good" carbon credits and saving the environment.

Heck, who knows if any of us will be around in 25 years.
