4 wheeler starter prices

I have been checking prices for a starter on my Polaris 4 wheeler. The prices range from $164.00 at local NAPA, to $30.92 +free shipping on Amazon. What's the difference in quality if any? I would like to buy local, but that's a big difference in price.

Okay go back to Amazon and where you see the little stars there is a small number . Click on that and read the reviews. Since I'm so darn helpful I read them for you and everyone likes these starters . But seriously check it out , there is not problems listed.

I agree with dr. I just got a $30 starter for my lawn tractor with a twin Briggs. Super happy with it (wasn't happy with the PIA of installing it). Try this one for size; Needed an air conditioner compressor clutch for my car. Everywhere I looked the clutch was around $70 even online, but I could get a whole reman compressor with new clutch for $35. Bought it, took the clutch off and put it on the old compressor (this way I didn't have to drain and recharge the system).

been down this road a couple of times...oem starter and drive lasted a very short time paid around $170.00 for both. bought a starter and drive for $45.00 from amazon, been working for three years...i recomend amazon...
remove battery and stand 4-wheeler on the back end easyer to change the starter...you are about to experience polaris engineering at it"s absolute worst!

I bought one from an online source for my Honda Big Red three wheeler for about 30+ and I bought one about 15 tears ago for about 60 and lasted until this fall. Some aftermarket ones are not rebuildable but I do not care because rebuilding is about 50 - 75 new about 300

It is to the point now you have to shop everything. Recently I needed a strut for a Camry. Best price local was double what I could get online, and it was the exact same part, and shipping was free, and I avoided the sales tax to boot. A couple bucks is one thing, but $50 or $60 is quite another. On the other hand, I was looking for a carb kit today and I can buy local for less on that. Well, Oreilly is not really what I consider local, and they do not stock it anyhow. I have been known to ask local to price match, and sometimes they will if it means they will lose the sale. I now buy most automotive type parts online due to prices.

I priced one for an '86 Suzuki 250 about 4 years ago and the dealer wanted right at $200 for an 'original equipment' starter! I went online and found one for $65 (was described as OEM and carried a warranty). When I got it I pulled the original and cleaned it off so I could read the stamped markings.
The markings and the manufacturer's name (Nippon-Denso) were [b:5326ab9a96]IDENTICAL[/b:5326ab9a96] - It's still working perfectly as of today. It was a seller on eBay as I recall. 8)

That would be why mine sits unless I need it to chase cattle. I fear it will break again and send me to the poor house with a bar of soap in my mouth.
