OT 97 Dodge Ram Gas Tank Again

The tank is off, it had a small hole in the top of the tank, I got that fixed. I was looking inside the tank with the fuel pump out, there was a green plastic ball inside about the size of a ping pong or golf ball rolling around inside the tank. I put it in the fill hose inlet and it rolled back into the tank. The white plastic ball is still in the filler neck. Where did this ball come from or where does it go?? Thanks, Chris

On my 97 diesel truck there is a green plastic ball in the anti-siphon assembly in the filler neck. Sounds like somebody took a bar or punch and drove it down into the tank to be able to siphon fuel, or maybe just fill the tank quicker. If you don't have to worry about fuel theft, you can probably just not install it.

It is most likely part of a broken roll-over valve assembly in the filler neck. The purpose of the valve is to prevent fuel leakage if the vehicle rolls over.

Yep rollover valve, someone probably punched it through the fillter neck to get a siphon hose in, maybe it just fell apart though?

Here are a couple examples of what it may suppose to look like
