Just got this email to a military truck door I have on craigs list. It seems a little odd to me, a little too generic. What do you guys think. I can reply though craigs list so I don't have to use his G-mail link. Bill

Hi!
I just viewed your ads posted on Craigslist. I can have a look at it this evening between 4:30-8:30pm. i am presently at work now as i work night shift but will be going home soon, since today is my off day and I can come around today to check it out anytime provided. Could you possibly show it to me this evening? I can come when i leave work on my way home before i have some rest, or first thing tomorrow morning, Let me know the best time to come around and check it out, i want to be sure it's still in good condition before i purchase it and i'm ready to pay in person by cash. You can email me here @ [email protected]. Let me know asap. Thanks!

Maybe reply through CL, ask which item he is inquiring about, his name, description of the vehicle he will be driving, exact time he will meet you, and directions to the police station parking lot where the transaction will be made.

Just got the same one a few days ago, my last ad was for NFL tickets I had won, but could not attend. Same nonsense, they speak in circles and say nothing these scam solicitations. A weak and humble response will draw them like lions to a kill though, I've had fun toying with a few of these over the years.

It often seems to be a scammer when they do not mention your item by name or description.

On the other hand an over night worker could be in zombie mode, ran across your ad, and is trying to communicate with you without waking you up with a phone call an 4:00am.

I would be careful but might be worth one follow up, if they can't mention what it is they are looking for by name or any sort of 'my agent...' Is in their communication then drop it like a hot potato......

I don't see anything to be concured about unless it's his poor grammer and written communication skill. There's a boat load of us here that are not any better off.

When i get a reply like that, i ask them where there from, if there a scammer, you dont here back from them.

That is the signature of a culture barrier, most often exhibited by perpetrators of what is commonly referred to as a Nigerian scam. The erroneous use of the English language makes them very easy to spot, though I am sure they have improved on their tactics just the same. Make no mistake, these people would no sooner take anything they can steal from you and then hack you up with a machete if you were in country, with no remorse at all.

The link attached is to a site that turns the tables on these people, the example shown in the link is exactly what I mean by their use of the english language. This has been going on for 20-25 years or more. I have received actual mail from Nigeria with the same proposition as is shown in the link. This site is not a family site, just be aware of that, nor is what these (scammers) people do either. They troll for the weak, the innocent and take advantage of them any way they can.

I replied though craigs list asking which item he was interested in, haven't heard back from him yet. Bill

I live in Central Washington. A good meeting spot for someone from the Seattle area to meet someone from eastern Washington to exchange item for money. In 2 cases here the people showed up who were supposed to have the item for sale with nothing and robbed the folks with the money. I've had good results selling and buying items on CL, but have also had the folks who respond and are "really interested" in something, want directions and will show up tonight at 5 but never do. I sometimes think some folks have noting better to do than harass others.

Scam....My wife has received similar messages on her craigslist ads..She never replies to them..

At first they say they will pay in cash but later it changes to I will pay directly into your bank account. Its a scam all the way.

Spam. I have gotten many versions of similar emails. No specifics and a long message is usually spam. You'd think if they were going to type a big long thing like that they would say what it is they want.

This guy must get around, word for word exact reply I got two days ago for my ad!! Key words for a spam/scan are "the item" in which it never mentions what you are actually selling.

Better yet just delete the reply and do not reply. These are just scammers who add your email to a list that they sell to the spammers.

Thats exactly what they are. They make something and you get spam. I currentlybhave 5 C L ads running. I will only accept replies by phone. When I leave home my cell shows texts to my landline, all are scams, my ads begin with "NO TEXTS". Friends are always asking me about their fishy responses, yet never folow my advice.

(quoted from post at 10:54:41 01/05/16) I'd pass on that one. Reply sounds creepy. Dude could be an axe murderer.

Yeah - I be packing heat to the 'meeting'!

spammer fishing for legit e-mails . They never mention your item by name , well some lately . but the way it's worded is tip off. don't replay ,most are just after email address in reply , then the spam really rolls in .

They promise to come, and when they "can't make it" and you contact them eagerly, they sucker you with a fake cashier's check for too much and you refund the balance before the cashier's check bounces.

I played with a Nigerian prince for about a month several years ago, kept telling him how thrilled I was that he would do such a favor for me but never gave him any of the information he was asking for. Since I had worked in Nigeria (he had no idea) when I got tired of it I told him my friends on Victoria Island (exclusive area of Lagos) wanted to meet him, in fact I had told him they were looking for him. No response.

Phishing scam.

I nearly never answer craigslist emails. Nearly all of them are scams.

If they don't call, I don't answer.

Go into your search engine. Put in the email address. It may show your where its from. I do that a lot on emails and suspicious phone numbers if im not sure. Last email I checked it was 1400 miles away but he would come by today. Lot of scammers out there. norm

Just got done reading the scammer scammer link. Hilarious. I was not nearly as imaginative.

I never respond to any inquiry to a CL ad when they don't mention what I am selling!
Like others have said, I have received nearly identical wording MANY TIMES.
Don't respond in any way---FLAG and DELETE!!!
