This is what gate latch and a cow will do when your 10 least thats how old I was! I was letting a cow out of a pen swung the gate in to keep the another one from goin in cow come around the end of the gate hooked her ribs on the two inch pipe on the end of the gate wedge me and her between the gate off goes the fingers! Hope my pic will up load!

Aside from any pain, that had to be pretty traumatic at 10.

It scare's me to think what could have happened to many of us who were too young and under trained for farm work when we begain. The upshot is that when something like Gleaner's injury happened only treatment we recieved was soak in kersosene and wrapped up with torn bed sheet. Kid tracks were often only heels or toes because he was avoiding walking on the injured part of foot.
