Revisit Ford 861 Fuel Injectors

Trying to clear up some of the fog that I have concerning the injectors on the older model Ford tractors. I have been trying to find the correct fuel injectors to replace those on a 1958 861 with the 172 engine. The Ford dealer here can order them for $195 each. The original part number from the Ford Parts List was DDN-993157-DRR which I don't see on any of the net parts suppliers.
The puzzling thing is that the dealer here said that the same injector would fit any of the 172 diesel engines as long as it had the same 11mm nozzel and the same pressure setting. If so I can find them listed for a 2000 Ford diesel 172 for $50-60.
The best price I can find to have mind rebuilt is about $100 each.
Can anybody shed any light on what fuel injector will work.

Sounds about right. I will bet if you go to napa or oreilly web sites they will be the same part number. Maybe even here. For sure I would ask on the Ford forum, those guys know their Ford tractors.

Why buy new nozzles? Very seldom does a nozzle need to be thrown out. Have your old ones cleaned and reset. Some people will call this a rebuilt. This word get used loosely in the injection world. About 25 bucks apiece should get the job done. If you cant find someone in your area feel free to give me a call. Good luck,,, Al 231/757/0064

Where did you get that part number?
The New Holland parts web site list D0NN9F593B as the correct part number for the 172 injector.

Thinking that maybe the web site was messed up I went to Spencer Diesel and looked it up again.

And came up with a part number of SDN5210603

And that crosses back to D0NN9F593B so I feel it is the correct number.

Have you checked with a couple of diesel injection shops in your area?

Best case scenario would be to find one that has a set of injectors "on the shelf" that they want to move on.

John, The number he posted is the same number I have in my old Ford parts cd which is a copy of the old microfish files. It is for a rebuilt injector. New must have a different number. Doesn't make sense to me but the 144 has the same injector.
