One Thing And Then Another

Hi Guys,

Okay, got the three-way and four way electrical switches on three circuits figured out........no hair left, but they work!. :>)

Now, off 100 miles to find the damned doors before everyone shuts down for another long weekend. Eight of the silly things. Four panel oak eyebrows. Three different sizes. Left swing/right swing. Open in/open out................

And here I thought all along that the fire was the bad part....... :>)

At least you've got inside work.🔨 Those oak doors will sure be sharp looking when you're done. When I built my place I got lucky and scored five brand new six panel pine doors for free. The insurance company paid for them when one of my brother's co workers had a garage fire. He was remodeling his house and had a bunch of new building materials in the garage. I sure got hooked up on that deal.

If you make it back home with the right doors I'll be impressed. Not matter how many times I confirm the list, I will always get at least one wrong. We replaced the doors on the house I live in now and it took a trip back to the store to get it right, but my drive wasn't 100 miles so it wasnt too bad.

I always thought having a good fire would be the best way to get rid of the crap we just can't let go of. Then I get reminded of all the BULL that go's with building a new house. I think I'll go hide the matches now......... Looks like progress is happening hopefully you see the end soon.

Well i have not had a fire to contend with thank god but i have been working on THIS OLD house now going on 26 years and you darn near have to build make reproduce everything . Oh the joy of installing new doors as you have to make extention jams some have to made on a taper and make the rough opening bigger to put in new 36 inch doors . And the fun i had rewiring this place as i could not find one electrician to do it , now i see why . I may have every mechanic's tool knowen to man , but when i started this remodel i had the basic carpenter tools and vary few of them. Now there is a complete wood working shop down in the basement minius a Shaper , but looking for one .Next up on the game plan is the Kitchen to stop the B-ittchen of no cabnits and no contour top space .

cooter, stand in the opening with your back to the hinges. If the door swings to the right,-RH. Swings to the left,-LH. That's how they are labeled at the lumber yard or box store.

Dang it Brendon! Now you got me looking all over my keyboard, for a Hammer! Where did you get that, Probably from Menards.

Look at the bright side. You have something to keep you busy on the inside. When I checked the weather in your area this morning it showed -9.

As a builder I get to do that all the time, some of our commercial jobs a door order with all the hardware can run 60 to 70k and we try not to make many mistakes.

We have a local lumber yard that goes by right HINGE, Left HINGE! They are labeled RH and LH like I expect, but they are completely backwards. That place I take in a picture and let them call the swing, as I usually get it wrong! They make them up to order, so you wont know your wrong for sometimes 2 weeks!
