We talk about how warm it is this year. Christmas Eve 1955 was 80 degrees here.
Then in the middle of April that year, it got down to 11 degrees. That summer was a dry one.

Ya news last night said this Dec was the 2nd warmest since they have been taking weather reports and keeping a history of temps etc. Bad thing is we have flood warnings for the next few days with a chance of 5-10 inches of rain which is not a good thing

Christmas 1958 I was living in a tent on Taiwan. Funny thing is, for the life of me I can't recall a thing about it.

It's pushing 80 here in Concord today. We had to open a window and turn on the fans last night as it had the thermostat on the wall was reading 81. I'm sitting here now, and it's only down to 78.

The bad thing is it's warm, and not raining for once, but I'm still pretty much out of commission for doing any of the outside stuff I need to do until my finger heals a little more. Guess I'll head down to the shop and screw around inside and do some piddly projects just to get out of the house for a little bit.

We have been setting record highs all week in SE La
Wed we got to 78 record was 77
Thurs we got to 79 record was 78
Fri we got to 82 record was 79
Today we are at 78 record was 77
And it has rained everyday this week

My A/C is running as I type this and my grass needs cutting but my yard looks more like a pigsty from all the rain.

I for one could use a cold dry spring and summer.

I recall picking rocks on January 27, 1981 in shirt sleeves in central MN. Al Gore was a US Rep. from Tennessee. The weatherman didn't talk about El Ni?o, and greenhouses used gas to start their plants early.

The last full moon on Christmas was in 1977. December '77 was almost identical to this year. It was also an El Nino year. The 1st week of 1978 was warm and the official high on 1/7/78 was 67 degrees. The next day the high was 22 and it stayed below freezing for 4 weeks and below 40 for 7 weeks. I hope the resemblance doesn't continue.

Christmas 1955 my Aunt gave me a Farmall 400 pedal tractor(she worked at an IH dealership)
I gave it to her daughter when she was little, got sold at my aunt's auction back in the late 1980's.My aunt bought it back at the fellow's estate auction around 2000 he had fully restored it,aunt died and my cousin gave the 400 back to me.I told her daughter when she has kids I'll give it to them, daughter said I'd be keeping it(LOL)

(quoted from post at 13:55:32 12/26/15) Obviously man made global warming. I'm looking forward to selling ocean front property in Oklahoma.

I sure hope I'll be right on the beach. It's interesting to know that this state and texas were once on the ocean floor

I remember Christmas eve 1955 and the next day very well. I went to midnight mass and slept in next morning. I was in the Army on Earnest Harmon Air Force Base , Stephenville, Newfoundland. I was awakened by the CQ with a telegram from my wife. She was on her way up and would be landing at the air port in a few hours. Holy cow, she did not have permission to come up. I had not been able to find any off base housing yet. Anyway, the Co. commander arranged for us to stay at the B O Q's for a couple days while we looked for a place to live. First Sgt was reading the book of army regulations ready to court martial me. Could not find anything but the supply sgt offered to let us live with him and his wife for a while. About six weeks later I found a house in town and we lived there for two years. It worked out in the end but more than a few officers were not happy that I had my wife up there and they were still awaiting orders to get theirs.

Richard, I was trying to remember just which year that was just recently. I have a photo of myself standing beside my school bus and I am wearing my flannel shirt and about to burn up. I knew it was 55 or 56 because I drove a bus both years. That warm spell caused a lot of talk here in NC as well, because at Christmas time you just didn't run around in your shirt sleeves! Back then it got cold and stayed cold.

I remember Good Ole Al saying how He took time out to invent the Internet. Not one Media Network called him out on it!!! Al has been nice and quiet lately. I think Tipper has him on a tight leash.

Some 1st shirts are like that and some aren't.I had both kinds.
Was Harmon a 2 yr. or 3 yr.tour?Stopped there a few times back and forth to Europe.

Christmas 1955 I spent in the 93rd Bomb Squadron barracks at Pinecastle AFB, Florida. (Now Orlando International) I had just made A 1/c and got my first airplane to crew chief, A B-47B S/N 51-2238. We all got pretty drunk and melancholy singing "I'll Be Home For Christmas, But Only In My Dreams"
