Flail Mower Blades

My flail mower is not being produced anymore. The last blades I bought were from another brand of mower. I had no idea what the original blades looked like. I found a set a few years ago they were .250 thick that fit my mower. I found the same size blade except it was .211 thick. Think the extra .040 will make much difference in the blade strength It doesn't take much of a rock strike to pull a pair blades out of their hanger mount. There goes around $12.00 bucks, with the hangers, and blades gone forever. I am wondering if the .250 blades weighted too much, and should go for the less weight ones? Those blades really spin. Well unless your going to change them all the balance will be off, I would look at what's wrong with your holders, there's a zillion different styles but all the ones I used took a good damage to break them. Some types need the tabs built up with weld eventually to keep the knives from getting out. But really without pics or atleast mentioning the brand it's going to be tough guessing and very general advice.

check flailmaster.com for your blades, they list them by manufacturer and dimensions. Unless they have changed since I last ordered 3 or 4 years ago you have to call them to actually order. if you do not see your blades call them anyway, they have a lot of stuff that is not on the website.

That's where I found my last set. That's why I think the blades may be too heavy for my hangers. My mower is a Dandle, not listed in Flail Master directory. Stan
