3 ph won't stay up .1978 ford 340

my 3 ph just started not staying up.. it has a scrapper blade on it that came with it but i never use... i just lift it up when i want to use the tractor and it used to stay up. now with both levers up if i let them go the levers seem to spring back to the down position... if i hold them up it will stay up... any thoughts... thanks

On the pivot point of those controls should be a nut and a disk looking part. Try tightening the nut and see if that helps. If not you disk part may need to be replaced

look where the control levers attach to the shaft with a s/locking nut. this nut loads a spring, which forces things together-cork/rubber disc is sandwiched between. it may have rotted-fallen out. [see a gap] if still there, nut can be tightened IF you get it freed up on shaft/key. careful. plate is aluminum & fragile. I have been able to take apart & make part from thick cork gasket sheet. getting that pot-metal lever assy loose is hard part. penetrant & patience.

To that problem, I once heard some Dude suggest dropping one of those Viagra capsules into the hydraulic fluid to cure that LOL LOL

That same dude accidentally got one of those capsules stuck in his ear, and it made him Hard of Hearing ???

POOF and it deserves it

John T That's all I have to say about that, and its ONLY something I "heard" lol NO WARRANTY
