I read on here that some of you mix solutions to make a good solution for getting bolts loose

OLD ... I think you had a mixer , if I remember right ...

I had it save , but my computer decided to upgrade .... now I lost more than ever ... DAN COMPUTER ..

THANKS for those that share your mixer ////// .. mark

Most of the time I use just straight out ATF and nothing else. I keep a pumper oil can full of it. On stuff that is real bad I might do a 50/50 mix of ATF and turpentine but now that turpentine is getting hard to find i just use the ATF

I use ATF all the time too, but the thing that really DISSOLVES rust, somehow, I dunno how, is PB Blaster. I have seen the stuff actually dissolve rust, maybe it is just removing it from bonding with the steel then floating it off, but man it think it really works great.
I have a jug of vinegar, and in two days that stuff will actually dissolve rust, leaving shiny / black-shiny steel. I have meant to drip some vinegar into a rusty nut-bolt combo sometime, and go back and drip some nmore, etc., and see if it works and dissovles, but I haven't remembered to do that.

504: What kind of container/spray bottle do you use for your mixture? Many of the potions I have tried in the past in a re-purposed Windex or similar bottle stop to pump after one or two pumps. It seems the mixture 'melts' part of the pump mechanism.

If you can safely apply heat, that's the best way to free frozen fasteners. There is no such thing as a "penetrating" oil that will miraculously free rusted bolts.

I second the heat and candle wax. I stripped down an old 9-N this fall and tryed the hot wax. It worked! joe

Sorry, I'm not Old, but it looks like others have given opinions and methods also, so here's mine.

To the extent any sort of a so called Penetrating Oil might help free a tight or rusty nut or bolt, (questionable), I have good luck with PB Blaster or Kroil.

If you want some sort of a home made "Witches Brew" to soak an engine block or combustion chamber to free stuck parts, I use Diesel Fuel + Brake Fluid + Auto Tranny Fluid.

HOWEVER to turn a rusted nut I USE MY OXY ACETYLENE HOT WRENCH to heat it red hot them let it cool and it like almost always comes off.

There ya go, give it a try.

A while back I had to disassemble a fence row hay rake basket. Removing nuts on star wheels. Had several brands of penetrating oil including PB and WD40. Carefully applied each to a specific nut several times over a two week period. When I finally got a big enough impact wrench, I discovered NONE OF THE PENETRANTS soaked in more than a couple-three threads. No winners here.

Acetone will eat up most non metallis products. It ia also HIGHLY volatile. It will vaporize and be gone in a few hours left uncovered. Best to mix a little in a can and use it up and toss the unused portion.
