Oldest son was cleaning up a junk pile a while back and found an angle iron frame with a tractor hitch welded to it. The frame was cast with concrete about 14 inches long, but 12 inches high and about 6 inches wide. Had a 3/4 bolt sticking out the bottom of it. He was wondering what the heck that was. It was a weight that Pop made to put on the drawbar of his Allis WC. He had a blade on the WC and he was always complaining about how light in the back end (back end weren't the words he used) that miserable WC was, thus he made this weight to help out when using the blade. Was rather ingenious of him to add the tractor hitch so he could still hook up to stuff with the weight on.
Just put the chains on the 420 yesterday. Decided to bolt this weight on the drawbar and see if it helps much pushing snow. Supposed to get 12-18 inches tonight and tomorrow. Then rain the next day. Predicted to be in the 50's for Christmas. If we get a foot or less, then I won't have to plow at all, just let it melt.
