Reznor Heater for shop

I picked up an old Reznor heater that came out of a church fellowship hall several years back. It originally used propane, then later converted to natural gas. I would like to convert it back to propane to run in the shop. I know I need to change the orifice, not sure what else I would need to do to convert it. Anyone on here have any experience with these?

Also having a hard time finding a serial tag on it, any ideas on where to look?

You need to change the regulator setting in the gas valve. With some luck it's a matter of removing the cap on it and turning a button over or turning in an adjustment. Natural runs far less pressure than LP and if a change isn't made in the regulator, the results will be less than satisfactory.

Sometimes you have to remove the regulator parts. Contact your propane supplier for assistance. They are usually glad to help.

The orfice will need changed on each burner and the pilot burner. Also the spring in the gas valve will need to be swapped to the heavier one for propane. Lastly a gauge needs to be put on the burner manifold to set the pressure through the gas valve properly. Manifold pressure should be 10.5" water column.

It could be 30 years old and have a lot of troubles. This is where you bite the bullet and take it into the best furnace shop in town. Tell them to go through the whole deal and get it ready to hang.
I have a 145 btu unit hanging in my shop for 15 years. It gets an "annual" overhaul every three years. Not going to gamble with something that is a big fire hanging over my attic.

I converted a furnace in 73, there was a little cloth bag tied to the burner control with an orifice and a spring for the regulator, the new ones are not so simple.

....and nat gas is usually 3.5 wc so quite a diff to make up somewhere. Maybe the valve adjustment will do it but I'd just take it to a pro.

I would also test the high limit temperature switch that monitors temp. I had one that did not turn off the heater and was lucky it did not burn the place down.

What happen was I had a timer on it to turn on 15min before I went in the shop each day. The blower fan went bad the switch did not turn the heater off...

You need to figure out what model it is, then you can GOOGLE for a manual that will give conversion instructions and numbers for a conversion kit, complete with instructions.
