Probably pay for it weather-wise in January, but for now....

Same here in Southern Indiana. The dandelions are blooming everywhere! The good news is not used much fire wood or hay this year, But I agree we are going to pay later!

I'm not to far from you hear in Blanchester and I know what you mean about the weather, Were going to pay for this good warm weather. I spent the weekend working outside doing some work on truck and trailer lights and out side house work. Not to often can you work in short sleeves in December and enjoy it. Bandit

Well, considering last winter started in October and lasted into May, I'm not complaining. It's entirely possible the next 3 months could be horrible. Weather is not climate.

You know what guys I am real up North here and I do not like this " Will pay for it later " since last October and many other October in my past life where we did have snow and the darn winter such as last year was f$$$#333 hard or I am getting too old for this now. Whatever the weather at this time of the year it has no such effect at all what the current in jan or feb. will be. So for the first time in 65 years I am heading to Florida to my sister in law house hope it will be warm for the month of january Wish you all a happy and healthy new year. jc

ordinarily, I welcome the Winter weather in December. I'm a skier and head out west in February while other guys my age (65) are heading to Florida or Arizona.

But..... yesterday, wife and I went out to the property we own to cut our xmas trees. House I own next door to it has been vacant for a month or so (daughter moved out temporarily). I had dialed down the thermostat on the forced air gas furnace to 55. Hadn't been there in a couple of weeks. Went into the house, was pretty cold, t'stat set at 55 but temp in house was 48. :? Checked the gas and it was not shut off (stove was working), furnace was "kind of running" (blower motor was spinning). At first, I thought it was a bad gas valve as I didn't smell any gas when I cycled the electrical supply to the furnace and it tried to fire up. The igniter wasn't coming on either and the "codes" from the flashing LED indicated an ignition problem. As part of its "retry" cycle, I heard the valve click and smelled gas for a few seconds, so I'm pretty sure it's the igniter. Can't be 100% sure as I don't know if there was juice going up to it as I didn't have my VOM with me. However, when I took it out, it bumped into the frame and the heating element broke in half, another indication that it was probably cracked. Anyway, it's a $16 part and on its way.

The point of this is that I'm glad for this "global warming" December or I'd have had a mess on my hands. And for those of you thinking it: Nope, I hadn't previously drained the water lines as I'm planning to use the house on weekends. Before I left yesterday, I DID throw some anti-freeze in the drains and shut off the well pump in case I can't get back there for some reason before a freeze sets in this weekend.

Over the past decade or two, it seems to me that winters aren't getting any better or worse, they just seem to be pushed back further. Start later, end later.

I know that doesn't make much sense as it's based on our angle to the sun which doesn't change - but just seems to be the case.
