Must have been some well cared for tractors and equipment. He probably got 70% of his original purchase price back on the larger tractors and may have turned a profit on the original price of the 4020.

How do you have that kind of investment in equipment and hardly use it and make it pay? The newest 4450 is 27 years old. That tractor has averaged less than 179 hours per YEAR or less than 3.5 hours per week. The 4240 even less than that.

Around here and we are in the same county those hours per year are normal. Boys have a 4850 MFWD that probably gets less than 100 hours a year. most hours is on a 4440 at 120-130 hours per year. It hauls the grain.

Must be the area with inherited land and money. Most new tractors I see average closer to 800 to 1200 hours a year to even justify ownership.

I have a 1988 4850 with 2610 hours and a 1997 8100 with 2325 hours. You put a 16 row planter behind a tractor and it dozen,t take many hours to plant a lot of corn and beans.
