What are you having for dinner tonight?

It's been a while since I have seen such a thread here. Looking like meatloaf and mashed potatoes here. I am thinking about a stew for next weekend when it is supposed to be colder.

No one in our house cooks anymore. We eat whatever we can scrounge up. Those that have someone in the house that is willing to take the time to prepare a meal are very lucky.

Hello,

Light diner to-day. Lemon chicken, rice with two kinds of greens, fennel and celery. Salted sardines with dried peppers. Some bread, fresh fennel for last, and a little bit of vino to wash it all down. Supper will be some kind of salad, with cheese pepperoni and what ever is in the ice box, tomatoes, peppers, onions, and celery. Little bread and vino to wash it all down. Coffee and some kind of sweet, to round the meal up,

Guido.

Probably a can of soup, don't feel real good today but Tuesday we took a 160 mile (round trip) road trip to Dubuque Iowa. Stopped on the way home in Galena Illinois at an old time supper club called the Log Cabin, haven't been there in 30 yrs., used to go a lot. Wife and me each had a ribeye a solid inch thick, wow, good.

SWMBO is making her homemade lasagna with tomato, onion, green pepper mix from our garden. I've never had better..She is a fabulous cook, learned from my mom.

All of our kids are home from University before exams, so we are all going out for dinner. Their favourite is Chinese, so we are off to a local restaurant that serves Asian, Japanese, Vietnames and Chinese dishes. I think Dad is in for a real learning curve in offshore cuisine tonight....

We went to the local diner that opened in 1957, great barbeque. They haven't remodeled since 1957 I don't think. Anyway at 2:00 we ordered big pulled pork sandwiches with onion rings. The meal would have been great, but the owner said "no charge, Merry Christmas!" I hardly know him, but thanked them for the gift. Too full for supper.

Busy night with the kids. Just going to have pizza tonight. Grilled a pork tenderloin on the charcoal weber last night. That was delicious! SMH

We had a busy day giving calves their booster shots. Kiddo was napping, so we cooked a frozen pizza. Grapes for dessert.

For my whole life we have had supper and only dinner on holidays or Sundays. Even my citified daughters call it supper if their husbands aren't listening. As my banker son-in-law said people think I'm a hick if I call it supper, so I have a real problem with country folks thinking they need to sound citified.

Unfertilized chicken embryos, curdled cows milk, left-over bits of a pig stuffed in the pigs intestine, boiled tree sap and baked finely ground seeds mixed with curdled cows milk.

Just got home from X-mas shopping with my daughters. Followed them into a this-n-that knick-knack type of store.
Wandering around and the nice lady asked if she could help me find anything. I said I just followed my daughters in here, this isn't my type of store. She says we have cooking stuff over here. I said I don't cook. She said we have grilling stuff over there. I said I don't grill. I said I just sit down at the table and the food appears before me. She said you're a lucky man. I said yes I am. So....fast forward a few hours....and my wife is not home tonight so my daughters are going to throw a Schwan's frozen pizza in the oven but hey, at least I don't have to cook. I wouldn't want to end up in the lyrics of a Jerry Reed song eating my own bologna sandwiches.

dinner tonight?, is that dinner or supper? if its night time then its supper, dinner is from 12;00 -1:00 PM. only heard city people call supper dinner. but for supper its roasted pork ribs and fried rice, and a shot of moonshine while waiting. its the legal stuff from the liquor store though. says distilled in monroe wi. on the bottle.

Monroe is 20 miles over my right shoulder sitting here, didn't know they made moonshine, thought their claim to fame was Huber beer and Limburger cheese.

Yeah, the beef ribs I had looked suspiciously small.....And the dog kinda growled at me when I got home........Now I don't feel so good....

Ben

The boss made corn meal mush with homemade maple syrup. If there was enough left over but there wasn't would have been fried mush fro breakfast with the same syrup.
