harness info

youtube has some decent "lesson" type videos - just go to youtube and search for "how to harness a horse".

But honestly, I think you'd be better off finding somebody who knows what they're doing and see if you can work with them a little to learn, or if they could help you do it with your horses.

A panicked horse wrapped up in harness can be a dangerous situation.

Where do you live?

Just something like a parts book for your old machinery only on the parts of a harness would be interesting. I have no interest in trying to harness a horse, not comfortable around them, but sometimes no chioce being on the Amish farms but it would be nice to be able to identify the different parts of the harness. And doing what I do I get asked if there would be any interest in a certain part for a harness and I basically do not know what is being asked about. Also just something like the operators manual for your tractor but instead how do you put the harness on and how you use the options.

The advise of JRSutton is what worked for me.
Had a neighbor that knows what he is doing come over the first time I harnessed up our team, some help to go over sizing and getting everything adjusted and fitting right is a huge help.
Thinking back the first time by myself it probably took me 1 1/2 - 2 hours before I had them hooked to the wagon.
Now it takes me 10 - 15 minutes, and I am by no means an expert.
Keep your collars and harness separate for each horse to avoid confusion next time.
Working out an order to follow prevents me from forgetting things and making stupid mistakes.
Lots of images on google to help you with proper terminology and placement.
Be careful and have fun.
First time out once everything was going right was definitely one off the bucket list for me.

Just type "horse harness diagram" in your search engine and you'll get 100 pictures wit the parts labeled.

Thanks for all the info I have always been interested in horse farming. Grandpa grew up horse farming I always wanted him to teach me but he lost all interest in horses he finally did let me have a saddle horse .
