i dont have a disc for my ford 8n but i would like to get one. what is the biggest i can get but my 8n will pull with ease

I saw the heading saying plow and then after I responded I saw you were asking about a disc. Depending on the weight of the disc, I would say 5-6ft

It depends on your soil. On average it should handle a 2X14 inch plow and a 6' tandem mounted disc. A poorly performing engine and/or bad tires will reduce the capability considerably.

Ohio 2-14" is too much. 2-12" work OK. And pulled older drag disk 7 blade on a side 8' total cutting with back gang. Would never atempt a 3 point disk. Tractor has lasted 71 years and hope it lasts a lot longer. Would not want the front end flopping around due to that overweight hanging off the rear.

I've used a 5 foot 3 point disk on a bigger tractor, and from that experience, I'd say a 4 foot is all an N would handle, if you want to put enough weight on it to sock it in deep enough to actually accomplish something. You could skid a bigger one along the top of the ground, not really doing anything, if you want. Might make for better bragging rights down at the coffee shop.

Not sure why everyone is giving you advice on "plows" (though that was in your subject line) when you are asking about a disc.
It will depend on the diameter of the discs and if you want a single gang or double gang disc. For a double disc the advice of 4-5 ft is probably right. I had a 9n that came with a 8ft single gang (Dearborn nameplate on the side of it). Never used the two together in a field so can't say... but they came together. Didn't want or need equipment that small and resold both of them.

If you have good tires, functional draft control (most aren't), proper ballast and very good soil, you can pull a 2X14 plow and a 5 1/2 or (maybe) 6' double disc that is not too heavy.

That said, most limit 8N plows to 2X12 or 1X16.

Depends on how and when you are going to use it...

If working plowed ground, better use a Drag first, to settle the soil some to improve traction..

If you do, a 6'will be fine..(ofcourse, you could mount Dual rear wheels and pull a light 8' Double Disc)...I have seen that fairly often (and a Weight-Box on the front)..

The Weight Box was for counter weight to keep the front on the ground when the rear implement is raised..

1x12- bottom ground gumbo soil, pulling over and letting the WD 45's and super M's pulling 3X16's
go around every 2nd round around the field.

Sounds likieby the questions you're asking you need a bigger tractor out of the chute. More like an M then forget that 3pt junk just pull it behind and be happier. 3pt equipment is just an anchor if you get stuck. Anybody that says he has never been stuck has not driven a tractor much.

I think he just needs a bigger 8N. lol

I used to pull a light duty 6' double disk with 4 cinder blocks on it for weight, with my 8N. I was only doing a large garden twice a year,
but it handled it with no problem. 2x14 plow was all it wanted and then some in 1st gear.

I pull a weighted 5 foot 3 pt with mine.
Good tires and ballast help a lot.
Liquid, wheel weights or both.
You can't go too heavy with a disk on an N or you'll lift
the front end of the tractor when you try to lift the disk.
