Oh No.... I Bought Another AC. . . . :

Actually! Bought two of the darned things! :p

Buddy and I have been talking about building a good All Crop combine together, between 3 of them. He had a very good one that I found for him, and he bought at a good price. Then WE found another one, for parts only, sitting out in the woods, and bought it too!

We got to talking about it, and I am going to go into growing Rye as much as I possibly can, and we haven't gotten one going yet. So, I just bought them both from him.

The "good" one has both drapers, and is pretty much ready to go, except for the drive/power. It HAD an AC B engine on it, but he took that off (wanted to go to pto power) the parts one has PTO on it, so he took all of the PTO off, so now both combines are bare, and there is an Engine and Drive line sitting on the ground next to them...

Probably won't be able to get them until the spring, but just thought I would share my excitement of owning TWO, All Crop 60's. :) (at least I think that is what they are?!:p)

around here where I grew up every farm had an AC pull behind combine
all of them were pto powered that I seen
spent a lot of time working them in the fields
wheat, barley, rye and clover is what most grew here then
very little corn and no one I knew did beans
once the self propelled combines started to become more prevalent in our area then they switched over to more corn and beans and less grains

from what I remember they were good units
there's a guy a couple miles from me with a nice looking one for sale I've been thinking about buying it but other than taking it to shows I have no use for one at the moment

if they were mine I would make it pto driven and sell the B motor

I know you'll get it up n working in no time
good luck

have fun with that project. Speaking of 2 of the same combines there are 2 Case "A" pull combines in the shed(someday projects). Have 2 IH 105 SP behind the shed that are shook apart. Personally, I'd like to make one out of the 2(and get rid of the 4400 deere that replaced the later park one) but have no place to work on them. Unfortunately those 105's might get scrapped when the price goes back up, before I get to that.

A model 60 has the bin auger unload on a swivel in the front side of the tank. Maybe early model 66 is the same, but the Big Bin 66 has the side unload. IIRC the serial number is on the left side, on an angle iron frame member, framework of the thresher housing, below the hinged door. Here"s my 66 with corn head.

You are already into your project but dollar and performance wise you would have much better off to started with an ac72 and got away from the canvas works.

That looks like the machines.

The unloading pipe is in front of the hopper, and swivels in order to swing out over the wagon. The nicer one has a "Seed Cleaner" that uses air to blow out dust and stuff into a bag, before the grain goes into the hopper... Pretty cool!! ;)

How about three pictures of IH105 Self Propelled(SP)? Top is just one of them, second next to Farmall B for size compare, third just to prove there are two behind the shed

Seed cleaner do you mean like a scour clean?
Scour clean has a turning screen that small stuff passes through that small stuff is then augured out to the bag. There is a blower like thing on one end to draw out the grain from the scour clean(blows into hopper).

I am not 100% WHAT it does, but I know it blows weed seeds / debris INTO a bag on the tractor side of the hopper? I will see if I can find a picture of one online... Only ever seen the one that is on that machine.

Here is a picture of what appears to be an Allis Chalmers Option. It is similar to mine, but as I recall. The one on my combine clearly has a tag on it that is NOT AllisChalmers. It is an aftermarket of somekind. I suspect it is the same machine though?

Right, so the sack would hang on the front of that blower right?

I know that the guy I got the combines from knows what it is, he SAYS, that the difference, is that you might have chaff or "impurities" in your grain tank, that the elevators or what ever then deal with, he said that if this "blower" is working correctly. The grain should be clean enough for bagging and selling right out of the hopper... True?

That's it aftermarket option likely made by Scour Kleen, (hence called scour clean however its spelt), that "scours" the grain clean

The weed seed(small debris) bag sits on that platform. most of the chaff is blown out with the blower under the combine, out with the straw. With a good combine it should (if set right) get it clean enough(for most part) to sell right out of hopper.

I will also say that a scour clean(that works) makes a big difference for right from combine clean grain. Had the 105's(see below) that have the scour cleans on got the grain a lot cleaner then the 4400 deere that replace them. We went out and bought a stand alone screen cleaner for removing the small material from the 4400 thrashed grain.

Awesome!! Good to know! I will hopefully be doing some Rye this spring (even though it is a winter crop?) and along with it Barley or Wheat. Mom wants to try some Wheat, but It needed to be planted in the winter as well I think! :/

Might be stuck with Oat Hay again! :p

Now I've got to go out and look. My 60 and 66 both have the side unload like your 66. Suppose someone put a 5 ft header on a 66 and I thought it was a 60?

Thats what I am hoping, but for some reason, EVERYONE around here runs Hard Red Winterwheat, but that is down on the Palluse, and they are cultivating 10,000-20,000 acres a farm... I am doing 15 acres. MAYBE! Of wheat that is... ;)

Hey Bryce you will enjoy the little All Crop, good draper has been the hardest part to find for me. Might want to reconsider parting out those WC's, would look pretty good hooked onto an all crop 60. Only thing that I ever pulled my all crop with that was comfortable to run it with. The offset seat on the WC was perfect for the left sided header on the 60. Let me know if you need any parts as I still have a parts machine also, Mike

Why don't you trade me the parts machine for this Schwartz Wide Front? Has your name on it?? MUST be yours?! :p

I'll keep you in mind for parts, I appreciate it!

Working on sealing the deal on a WD though, and it is running and driving. If that don't work. I have Farmalls..... ;)

Heard about an interesting tid bit on 105's(not sure if true) see how that one has a white scour kleen. That one is a year or two newer then the other. As they got newer they got more white. I saw one advertised for a auction that was newer yet it was white on the top till almost the bottom of the platform.

I seem to have so many tractor projects right now that I am not sure about making up mounts to put that front end onto another tractor. I actually like the maneuverability of the narrow fronts a lot more. Also able to squeeze a few more tricycles into the barn at the end of the season. My kids might really get a kick out of seeing SCHWARTZ on the front of one of the tractors. WD would be nice match for that 60 with the pto setup. Mine that I use has the engine on it. Have pulled it with the WC, farmall H and M, OC3 and a F20. Header lift lever right behind you on all but the AC's where it was actually comfortable to operate.

We used a couple of AC combines back in the very early 70s. Fun machines to run, never had any problems with them. Back then parts were still very available too. We replaced both with a small IH combine.
