Today I had two messages on my answering machine from the same number (803-514-3943). The message said that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me and that I should call them back right away. Of course I did not.
I ran a search on that number. Seems that a lot of people have gotten that same type of call from that number. I believe the town given was Aiken, SC or something like that.
So beware--they're out there!

I got one yesterday. Someone with a THICK accent(mid east?) said they were from the "computor maintenance department" said My
computor need "maintenance".They could perform that 'maintenance' immediatly. All they need were my passwords.......WRONG!!!!! Be
careful folks!

Got a call on my cell today that I did not answer. A message was left by a clearly automated computer voice saying something to the effect that I was under federal prosecution and was going to be arrested if I did not call back right away..... SCAM!!

My wife got one the other day where they said they could see her computer and that it needed work. She said "you can see my computer?" the man said yes. So she asked him where it was because it was stolen 10 days earlier. If he could tell her where it was she could get the cops there. There was a short silence then the click and a dial tone. Haven't heard from him again.

Yep. We got 2 of those calls a week ago.

I did go get my jail orange clothing sized up so it will fit good.

LA in WI

I'd just tell them thank you SO much, I'd be glad to give you my passwords, do you have a pencil?? Yes?? My main password is th883gjvvl733@@SJ877NMMM588ISSKKER998HGGI63 AND JUST KEEP ON going/.....

We get those in The UK too! I usually tell them to "Go forth and multiply" ( Or words to that effect!)

This is not a robo-telemarket call. A friend has selected you to receive a free security system----blah----blah----click. Out of California.

I have a few phone numbers, email addresses and regular addresses near my phone.

Think of that neighbor, fellow worker or associate who needs the exact service or prize the caller
is ready to give you. I become this other person and with the "corrected" information, I am very
easy to contact.

I got one several months ago. Said the county tax collector was filing a lean on my house and property. For 500 they could settle my account.Told them.
My sister in law is the county tax collector. Which she is. I rent an apartment so file away.

I get'em all the time. The factory warranty on your truck is expired, your computer needs maintenance, free home security, etc etc.

Sometimes I cut'em short and sometimes I let talk on speaker if I'm workin in the shop. Yesterday I messed with a gal on the warranty on my 2010 F150. After 5 minutes I said I sold that truck. Never stoped what I was doin the whole time she talked.

When they call about the computer I say I'm an employee of the government and the call is being recorded. That usually ends it.

Home security asks if you currently have a system.I say I got 2 of'em.One with four legs and a tail and the other has 1 in the chamber and 5 in the tube.

Unfortunately, the most obvious way to know that such calls are scams is because the IRS will give
no warning, they will sieze whatever they please with no due process, bank accounts, salary, house,
land, cars, you name it. They are all criminals but the IRS can steal without fear of prosecution
or accountability.

My mother got a call recently from
someone claiming to be her oldest
grandson and needing bail money. We
are a fairly "close knitt " family and
mom saw too many errors in his story
from the start. Had me look up the
phone area code. From B.C. Canada.
Some scammers will try anything.

A young lady I know answered a phone call and when she told the caller that this was a scam the caller tried to recruit her to work for the scam company!

First of all get on the do not call list.
That will help you avoid getting on those
phone lists.
Secondly, if you do get an unwanted
call/solicitation go back to the govt site
and report the number. Nothing can be done
about them unless people band together and
report them.
do not call list

Problem is, they're scammers. The number you see on the caller ID is likely fake, too. If you listen to the recording, the number they give you to call back is usually completely different from the one they supposedly called on. Sometimes it's a legitimate number, but the number of someone who is completely innocent. There are lots of stories of people who have been dragged into something they had no part of.

We get a call about four in the afternoon every day from Rachel or Carmen from card services, wanting to sell us a lower credit card interest
rate. I have told them I've never paid any credit card interest in my life and don't intend to. We are on the do not call list but it doesn't seem to
do any good! I even called the attorney generals office for Iowa but that didn't help either. So I guess we'll have to put up with it!

Got one like that last week. Caller didn't seem like English was first language- SO, a little bit of German remembered from when grosmutter called the kids into kitchen when the D B wouldn't start--- scam caller don't seem to understand that either Kush Mir Im tuches. Get a lot of clicks. RN

I get the TV and window scams. I just ask if you need to own the TV, that usually ends it.
Tell them I didn't know you could put windows in a tent.

Good luck with the Iowa folks, a restaurant can call you a F*ggot to your face and refuse to serve you and they don't feel it's discrimination. Seems you can call someone that and refuse to serve him, but unless they're really gay it's not discrimination. Couldn't figure out what happened that our local Hardee's would think I was gay until about a month after the incident, I found out one of my co-workers with the same first name and a similar last name was gay, they must of thought I was him.

Love that quote: "Go forth and multiply thyself".

I enjoyed emailing with a Nigerian Prince, he was really in a bind. We went along for about three weeks on my work computer. I finally told him I had friends on Victoria Island (exclusive business section of Lagos, I had the privilege of working there once) and they wanted to come visit him. Emails died out.

I got one from a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be "Windows support" and my computer had a virus and I had to log on and give him
access so he could fix it for me. I called him a lying scammer, he kept on insisting he was Windows customer support and I had a virus.
After about the third try I told him that I knew he was a scammer because Windows support isn't going to fix an Apple computer (don't have
an Apple but he didn't know that) he hung up.

I have been known to answer the phone when the phone number is unknown to me with "Hancock County District Attorney's Office fraud
investigation division"

I suppose with all the worries about terrorism I should develop a new scam where I try to convince the scammer I'm with ISIS and we can't
plan operations over the phone because Homeland Security is listening, but the plan is a go and the items are being sent to you by Fed-Ex
but only sign for the packages if the driver is wearing brown tinted sunglasses, if he isn't it's a plant.
