Jamaican Lotto Scam

Heard about this on a website I stumbled across. What a scam. Anyone know anyone duped by this scam? Sounds terrible. Lots
of people have been wiped out of their lifelong savings in a few months.

The scammers are criminals and despicable but many, if not most of the victims are greedy and stupid. It is the same thing as the scammers advertising the 1 year old John Deere tractors for 2500 bucks on craigslist, greed motivates the buyers, the sales pitch is typically that some widow has a tractor and does not know the value, just wants to get rid of it because it reminds her of her late husband etc. some old tightwad falls for it because he wants it to be true then he screams bloody murder when a ridiculous tale winds up being a lie, but he was not concerned about cheating the imaginary widow to start with. Just because someone is old does not mean they are helpless victims or pure as the driven snow, Granddad used to say ''an old no good S.O.B. was once a young no good S.O.B.'' I have found that to be pretty much accurate over the years.

Well, I guess you can't fix STUPID!

WHY would anyone deal with the Jamaicans when you can get a MUCH better deal from the Nigerians?

SERIOUSLY are there still some (greedy) people out there that fall for this (STUPID) bull excrement?

These foreign lottery scams used to sell tickets but the lottery did not exist. I have seen fake raffles and lottery scams locally.

Obviously people are falling for these scams....or they wouldn't be around.
Several years ago, my brother was dating a lady who runs a craft shop and also ships packages for (I believe) FedEx. A local farmer comes in and wants to ship a package. When asked how much the package was worth, he said he valued it at $10,000. This shook the girlfriend up a little bit so she asked the farmer exactly what was in the package. His reply: "$10,000!"
She figured it out immediately that he was sending money away to be swindled and clued him in.

How is this any different than the Lotto scams around here in the US ran by the States ? Where was it in IL than ran out of money for pay outs ?

I personally will not deal with the corruptocrats in abundant states, especially ones like Illinois that can't even pay out on their lottery.

I typically don't listen to commercial radio, but did today. I'm in Wisconsin, but Dubuque is the closest city, so i get Iowa radio stations. In a three hour period, they advertised the Iowa lotto 4 times! State run lotteries are almost as big a scams as the fake international lotteries. They never talk about the infinitesimally low odds of winning.... I don't like lotteries, but can accept allowing them. However, they should AT least cover the odds of winning in the commercial, or outright ban any advertising on them.

Definition of lottery -
1. a tax on those who have a weak understanding of statistics.
2. a game where many morons get together and make one among them look like a genius

Scams endure because there are so many that are duped. Usually if a person takes a second to think then they realize.
